  1.      Note: If you don't have a "BBSICONS.DAT" file in your IconUpDater                          
  2.      Directory, you are going to have problems. Just run ICMAINT.EXE
  3.      from IconUpDater's Directory, and it will be created.

  9.                             Step by step                Feb 27th, 1994

  11.         Realize this is a quick start document.  You should read
  12.                            the Sysop.txt!!

  15.   1.)  Create a directory that will only be used by IconUpDater.
  16.  
  17.        ex.  c:\wc30\doors\icupd   or  c:\doors\icupd  or  c:\icupd
  18.  
  19.   2.)  Copy the ICUPD270.ZIP to this new directory.

  21.   3.)  Unzip ICUPD270.zip in its new directory
  22.  
  23.   4.)  Now type INSTALL...
  24.  
  25.   5.)  DO NOT RUN ICSETUP yet... if you do not follow this guide
  26.        you will create head aches for yourself!

  28.      Now...
  29.   6.)  ZIP or ARJ (only!) all the icons you are currently using on 
  30.        your BBS and put them in a directory. Usually on your BBS somewhere.
  31.       *Write down the Path and filename to those icons; you will 
  32.        need it later.

  34.   7.)  Now create another directory for all the icons you are currently
  35.        using on your BBS.... ex.  c:\ripaint\bbsicons    ...and put DO
  36.        NOT put anything other than just .ICN files in this directory.
  37.       *Write down the Path to those icons; you will need it later.

  39.   8.)  Make sure you know what to type in for SysOp name and BBS name
  40.        when the setup program ask for it.  If you are using the KEY
  41.        that came with it.... (unzip "THEKEY.ZIP"), then you will
  42.        need to type in "RYAN ANDERSEN" for the sysop name and
  43.        "Demo Version"  for the BBS name.
  44.           
  45.        Now...
  46.   9.)  Run ICSETUP.EXE.  This will prompt you for the config information.
  47.        When you are finished it will write a file called "DNICON.CFG" and
  48.        a file called ICMAINT.CFG.
  49.        These files MUST be in the same direct as ICONUPD.EXE!!!
  50.        Make sure you read all documentation if you have questions on what
  51.        ICSETUP ask you.

  53.          If you are runing a DEMO... then put "Demo Version" in for the
  54.          name of the BBS and "Ryan" for the Sysop's first name and
  55.          "Andersen" for the sysop last name; or the DEMO key will not work!

  57.       Do this>    Call DUOnline to create your own custom DEMO Key!!
  58.  
  59.      **** Make sure you Go thru every Menu and Option in ICSETUP
  60.           so you do not miss anything!  ICSETUP make setting up
  61.           IconUpDater easier.  It will even perform checks to
  62.           make sure certain file are where you say they are.

  64.   10.) .... Create a LOGIN1.BAT file in your Wildcat's main directory.

  73.         * NOTE! * 
  74.                  Do not attempt to pass the CONFIG file DNICON.CFG
  75.                  on the command line in the batch file. IconUpDater
  76.                  will NOT accept this.  See CONFIG.TXT in ICMANUAL.

  79.   11.) Last... MAKE SURE that PKZIP, PKUNZIP, and DSZ or GSZ ( which ever
  80.        one you are using) is IN YOUR PATH statement.

  82.   12.)  You can't run this door, IconUpDater from the DOS prompt, unless  
  83.        all the available files are in the respective paths. (e.g. DOOR.SYS 
  84.        is in the path you specified in ICSETUP.exe... etc.).  Wildcat BBSes  
  85.        can login locally and run it. You really should call it from another 
  86.        computer to test it out, or have a friend call. And test it with 
  87.        RIPterm 1.53 or greater.   QMpro still does not understand all of 
  88.        the RIPscript, but then again, who does? <grin>.

  91.        I have had many poeple say that IconUpDater has been one of the
  92.        easiest Doors to install.  But regardless, let me know if you 
  93.        have any problems. WHY?  
  94.  
  95.        Because if you run RIP graphics, then you (& your users) will
  96.        want and need this Door.  It has so much to offer for so little.
  97.        With little or no sysop maintenance!
