  109.    INTRODUCTION:
  110.  
  111.            This door was designed to decrease maintenance time 
  112.            for the sysop, while still offering other great options.  
  113.            The NEW menu driven ICSETUP.EXE program will make using 
  114.            IconUpDater easier than ever before. See the section 
  115.            on "Config Files."
  116.  
  117.            IconUpDater is a great program to use if you are one of
  118.            the many sysops who is trying to get their uses to switch
  119.            over to using RIPterm.  IconUpDater runs for ANSI and RIP
  120.            callers.  And if you set IconUpDater as Login1.bat or
  121.            Login2.bat then your ANSI callers will see IconUpDater
  122.            and they will have the option of downloading your
  123.            ALLICONS.ZIP file & a copy of RIPterm if you make it
  124.            available to them as Menu Option #1, 2 or 3.

  126.            Note: for all callers, especially 2400 baud, IconUpDater 
  127.            keeps track of how much time they have used while running,
  128.            then when the user is finished, IconUpDater passes all
  129.            the time back to Wildcat, so that the user didn't use
  130.            any time at all.  You can even force your ANSI callers
  131.            to download RIPterm and your Icons before they continue
  132.            to your BBS.

  134.            Note for sysop:  IconUpDater has many, many, many features!
  135.            If you elect not to read all of the text files in ICMANUAL
  136.            then you may miss out on some of them.  The section
  137.            "Main Menu" tells you most of them.  The most recent one
  138.            I have added is "+"... if you or the callers hit the
  139.            plus sign (+) key he will be logged off.  Same as select
  140.            Goodbye from wildcat.

  149.            You also need to make sure you have DSZ or GSZ in your 
  150.            DOS path or in the same directory as the IconUpDater
  151.            program!! A shareware version of DSZ is available on 
  152.            DUOnline for download.

  157.            This program supports COMs 1 - 4 and IRQs 1 thru 15.
  158.            I know there have been problems in the past with running
  159.            IconUpDater on Non-Standard setups.  But starting with 
  160.            this version I have started testing IconUpDater on a non-
  161.            standard com port on my on sysytem: COM 3 IRQ 5, and it
  162.            seem to work great. In the confgi file I specified "3E8"
  163.            for the Base (port) Address and "5" for the IRQ.

  165.            DIGIBoard Systems.... IconUpDater works on DigiBoard
  166.            systems BUT! GSZ & DSZ doesn't work on DigiBaords...so
  167.            therefore I guess we can say IconUpDater doesn't work on
  168.            Digi's.  But if you like IconUpDater enough to give it a 
  169.            try on your DigiBoard, give me a call voice and lets talk.
  170.            We maybe able to find a Transfer protocol other than DSZ
  171.            that may work on your DigiBoard system.

  174.    OTHER STUFF:

  176.            You can create your own screens and use the 20 @-codes 
  177.            provided with IconUpDate... see section on
  178.            "Menu File Names"

  180.            It is also a good idea to setup another BAT file to run
  181.            IconUpDater off your doors menu so that after a users
  182.            is online they can still get to IconUpDater in case they
  183.            need to do another scan.  This is simple: just copy
  184.            your LOGIN1.BAT to DOORxx.BAT.

  187.         /||New note:  A limit has been found... IconUpDater can not
  188.        //||handle more than 425 Icons... at least on one BBS... I

  194.             ICFILE is now called ICFILER..and has been totally
  195.             rewritten form scratch!  I have yet to hit a limit
  196.             on it.  I added over 1100 Icons to the BBSICON.DAT
  197.             file with NO errors! ICMAINT.EXE also managed and
  198.             compiled the BBSICONS.DAT & OLDICONS.DAT with over
  199.             1100 icon files!
