  7. The Park is north and adjacent to Sequoia National Park and east of Fresno. To reach Kings Canyon Park, go east from Fresno on Highway 180 from Highway 99 to the entrance. Generals Highway connects Highways 198 and 180 and passes through Sequoia Park to the Grant Grove Area.

  9. WHEN TO VISIT
  10. Open year round. Peak visitor month is August. Generals Highway between Lodgepole and Grant Cove may be closed intermittently due to snow in the Winter. Climate: January, 24 to 60 degrees F; July, 68 to 104 degrees F. Average annual precipitation, 16 - 32 inches.

  13. Two enormous canyons of the Kings River and the summit peaks of the High Sierra dominate this mountain wilderness. General Grant Grove, with its giant sequoias, is a detached section of the Park.

Summer and Winter activities make this a popular Park to visit. There are 700 miles of hiking trails with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 14,495 feet altitude. Reservations at Lodgepole campground: 1-800-452-1111. Cabins may be reserved from Sequoia and Kings Canyon Guest Services, 209-561-3314. Communities nearby include: Fresno, Three Rivers, and Visalia.
