To reach Kings Canyon Park, go east from Fresno on Highway 180 from Highway 99 to the entrance. Generals Highway connects Highways 198 and 180 and passes through Sequoia Park to the Grant Grove Area. WHEN TO VISIT Open year round. Peak visitor month is August. Generals Highway between Lodgepole and Grant Cove may be closed intermittently due to snow in the Winter. Climate: January, 24 to 60 degrees F; July, 68 to 104 degrees F. Average annual precipitation, 16 - 32 inches. POINTS OF INTEREST Two enormous canyons of the Kings River and the summit peaks of the High Sierra dominate this mountain wilderness. General Grant Grove, with its giant sequoias, is a detached section of the Park.
