[ESTAT][PARA]The University is the first to attract blanket sponsorship for all sporting activities. In effect, this means that student competitors representing the University and brochures, publicity and the like, all say KPMG Peat Marwick on them and in return the accountancy firm gives wads of cash for sports equipment, like a new glider (20 grand). [ITAL]Facilities are outstanding and involvement is high - what's more, sometimes students even win trophies. [EITAL]Their charge of 30p for indoor sports [ITAL]doesn't seem to put too many off.[EITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]Most outdoor facilities are at Grove Farm, 1 mile from the campus, but some are also on campus. In all, there are 220 acres of playing fields, including a floodlit artificial hockey pitch and a croquet lawn/bowling green. There's also the University lake, a 2,000m rowing course near the campus and the University boathouse on the Trent. The sports centre on campus has the biggest and most efficient sports hall in the country, 2 tennis courts, indoor sports courts, a smaller hall, 7 squash courts, a climbing wall, fitness room; table tennis, snooker room, bar and coffee shop. The membership fee is ú8 a year. There's currently a level of indecision over whether to build a new swimming pool or a research centre.
