[ESTAT][PARA]The University is the first to attract blanket sponsorship for all [PARA]sporting activities. In effect, this means that student competitors [PARA]representing the University and brochures, publicity and the like, [PARA]all say KPMG Peat Marwick on them and in return the [PARA]accountancy firm gives wads of cash for sports equipment, like [PARA]a new glider (20 grand). [ITAL]Facilities are outstanding and [PARA]involvement is high - what's more, sometimes students even win [PARA]trophies. [EITAL]Their charge of 30p for indoor sports [ITAL]doesn't seem to [PARA]put too many off.[EITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]Most outdoor facilities are at Grove Farm, 1 mile from the [PARA]campus, but some are also on campus. In all, there are 220 [PARA]acres of playing fields, including a floodlit artificial hockey pitch [PARA]and a croquet lawn/bowling green. There's also the University [PARA]lake, a 2,000m rowing course near the campus and the [PARA]University boathouse on the Trent. The sports centre on campus[PARA]has the biggest and most efficient sports hall in the country, 2 [PARA]tennis courts, indoor sports courts, a smaller hall, 7 squash [PARA]courts, a climbing wall, fitness room; table tennis, snooker room, [PARA]bar and coffee shop. The membership fee is ú8 a year. There's [PARA]currently a level of indecision over whether to build a new [PARA]swimming pool or a research centre.
