In order of popularity[EITAL], they are The George Knox Tavern (cap 200), Shafts Disco Bar (400) and the Cafe Bar (150).[PARA][BOLD]Theatres:[EBOLD] 1 studio theatre. [ITAL]Drama is quite a high profile activity. [EITAL] 2 shows went to the Edinburgh Fringe last year.[PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] Videos are shown once a week in Shafts; lately, Thelma and Louise, Sliver.[PARA][BOLD]Music venue and club/disco:[EBOLD] Every night is club night in the SU's customised venue 'Shafts', which also often hosts bands of considerable note, considering the size of the venue. Each night has a different theme (eg. acid Mondays, 60s Tuesdays, reggae Wednesdays, etc).[PARA][BOLD]Recent band appearances: [EBOLD]Blur, Urban Species, Oui3.[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] Twice a term featuring circuit comedians such as Jenny Eclair, Stewart Lee, Jim Tavare.[PARA][BOLD]Others: [EBOLD]Quizzes and lots of balls.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]The refectory provides snacks and light meals throughout the day, supplemented by the SU's small snack bar (open into the evenings). Livers out and those who don't have to be on campus during the day find their lunchtime fill in Ponty's tea shops, sandwich bars, pubs, fast food joints (burgers, fish 'n' chips). Some [ITAL]fairly cheap [EITAL]restaurants: Indian (3), Italian, Pizza, British and Chinese. [PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plug to John and Marie's, for variety.[EITAL] [ITAL]Vegetarians will find the choice extremely limited.[EITAL] Fast food slows down around midnight, but there's a 24hr garage for ciggies and chocs.
