Plenty of[PARA]services though. The charity Rag was banned in 1976 for [PARA]breaking [ULNE]into[EULNE] Durham's top security prison and so students just [PARA]changed the name to 'DUCK' (Durham University Charity weeK).[PARA]Last year it raised ú27,000. Student Community Action acts as [PARA]an umbrella group for many town-gown projects. The Durham [PARA]Union Society (DUS) is the long-standing debating society which [PARA]offers more than just debating. It also runs a bar, TV room, cafe [PARA]and a range of events. [ITAL]It's often seen as a right-wing alternative [PARA]to DSU or a refuge for the sophisticated Sloane -[EITAL] either way it [PARA]costs ú35 to get in. Durham Student Theatre is the umbrella [PARA]advice and co-ordination group for the University's endless drama[PARA]groups. Durham sent 3 shows to the Edinburgh Festival last [PARA]year.[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA]There is a 1,500 year-old Christian heritage, so finding a church is[PARA]easy: as well as the Cathedral there are Anglican, Catholic, [PARA]Methodist, Quaker and United Reformed churches. Most [PARA]colleges have their own chapel. For muslims, a prayer room is [PARA]provided, but the nearest mosque is in Sunderland. Anyone else [PARA]has to venture to Newcastle for places to worship.[HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]Very few openings.[EITAL][PARA][PARA]
