Transcription: The Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiment, SAREX, gave children from schools around the United States the opportunity to communicate with shuttle crew members by way of shortwave radio. The SAREX program was sponsored by several amateur radio organizations in an effort to explore simpler modes of communication between people in space and people on Earth. To take part in the experiment, all the astronauts on board became licensed ham radio operators and studied appropriate ham radio language Shh.
