  148. ADI DRIVER COMMAND LINE OPTIONS

  150. If you run an ADI driver with the command line option "h",  you
  151. will see explanation of all available options.  This installation
  152. program automatically makes use of them.  If you wish to further
  153. fine tune your driver,  the following information may be helpful:
  154.  
  155. ** The '2' option reassigns the 16-color patterns to the 256-
  156.    color patterns (for 16-color drivers only).
  157.  
  158.    CAUTION: You will find that if you select this option and your
  159.    drawing uses a color number higher than 9, the color is
  160.    displayed  differently because of the  reassignment  of colors.

  164. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR NON-NETWORKED WINDOWS:

  166. 1) This installation program assumes you have installed a Windows
  167.    directory on your hard disk.  If you haven't,  install one,
  168.    preferably with "VGA" as the type of "Display".
  169.  
  170. 2) All drivers and related files will be copied to your existing
  171.    Windows directory on the hard disk.
  172.  
  173. 3) Exit to DOS.  Go to your Windows directory and run SETUP.

  176. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR NETWORKED WINDOWS:
  177.  
  178. 1) This installation program assumes there is a properly installed
  179.    shared copy of Windows on the network as well as a local copy of
  180.    Windows installed preferably with "VGA" as the type of "Display".
  181.  
  182. 2) All drivers and related files will be copied to the local Windows
  183.    directory.

  185. 3) Exit to DOS.  Make sure both the shared and the local Windows
  186.    directories are included in the PATH.  Go to the local Windows
  187.    directory and run SETUP.

  190. SPECIAL NOTE FOR 32768 COLOR WINDOWS DRIVER
  191.  
  192. Some Windows application programs attempt to determine the number
  193. of  colors  available  on the display by  enquiring  the  display
  194. driver.  The 32768 color driver naturally gives the answer 32768,
  195. which  unfortunately  is interpreted as a  negative  quantity  by
  196. certain  application  programs,  resulting in odd colors  on  the
  197. screen.  Here is a list of these programs:
  198.  
  199. o  WINDOWS PAINTBRUSH
  200.    The  PALETTE appears as shades in black and white.  For  the
  201.    colors to reappear,  follow this sequence:
  202.  
  203.       Go to Options menu
  204.       Select Image Attributes
  205.       Change setting to Colors
  206.       Go to File menu
  207.       Select New
  208.  
  209. o  TETRIS
  210.    The screen appears in black and white.  The colors may  look
  211.    different  than  normal.  Don`t panic.  The  game  is  still
  212.    good.  Play as normal.

  216. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR GEM DESKTOP:
  217.  
  218. 1) This installation program assumes you intend to install a brand
  219.    new GEM directory on the hard disk.  Back up any existing GEM
  220.    data files.

  222. 2) Make a back-up copy for each of the original GEM distribution
  223.    diskettes.  Put away the originals.  Use the copies for
  224.    installation.
  225.  
  226. 3) After selecting a desired GEM version and display resolution,
  227.    the appropriate driver will be copied to a GEM diskette.

  229. 4) The GEM installation program,  GEMPREP or GEMSETUP will be
  230.    executed and a new GEM directory will be set up.

  234. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR LOTUS 1-2-3 AND SYMPHONY:

  236. 1) This installation program assumes you have installed a Lotus 1-2-3
  237.    or Symphony directory on your hard disk.  If you haven't, install
  238.    one.

  240. 2) 3 drivers will be copied to your Lotus 1-2-3 or Symphony directory:
  241.  
  242.    LOTUS23B.DRV   for 132x25 Text mode in 16 colors
  243.    LOTUS33B.DRV   for 132x44 Text mode in 16 colors
  244.    LOTUS37B.DRV   for 132x44 Text mode in Black/White

  246. 3) The file SINGLE.LBR will be deleted for:
  247.     Lotus 1-2-3    Ver. 2.0 and
  248.     Symphony       Ver. 1.1

  250. 4) Exit from this installation program to DOS.

  252. 5) Go to your Lotus 1-2-3 or Symphony directory and run Lotus INSTALL.
  253.    Follow the instructions given by this installation program.

  257. This entry allows the user to enter the directory that contains
  258. all the auxiliary files from the diskette(s) supplied with the
  259. display adapter.  Normally you would enter the floppy drive to
  260. which you will insert these diskette(s).  However,  if you have
  261. already transferred all files from these diskette(s) to a
  262. directory on your hard disk,  simply enter the full path
  263. (including the drive letter and the leading "\") to that
  264. directory,  e.g.
  265.

  268. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR VENTURA PUBLISHER:
  269.  
  270. 1) The Ventura Installation program, VPPREP, will be executed first.
  271.  
  272. 2) The appropriate driver will be copied to the Ventura directory
  273.    on the hard disk.
  274.  
  275. 3) The Ventura batch file VP.BAT or VPPROF.BAT will be modified to
  276.    make use of the high resolution driver.
  277.  
  278. 4) Exit from this installation program to DOS.  The first time you
  279.    run Ventura,  you may encounter some problems.  You may need to
  280.    edit the batch file to adjust some parameters,  e.g. /A=

  286. 1) This installation program assumes you have installed a VersaCAD
  287.    directory on your hard disk.  If you haven't,  install one,
  288.    with "EGA" selected for Screen Configuration.

  290. 2) The appropriate driver will be copied to the VersaCAD directory.
  291.    If you selected any 255-color mode,  2 font files will also be
  292.    copied:   FNT8X14.FNT and FNT8X8.FNT.
  293.  
  294. 3) A batch file called AVCAD.BAT will be created based upon the
  295.    original VersaCAD batch file.
  296.  
  297. 4) Exit from this installation program to DOS.

  299. 5) Go to your VersaCAD directory and run VRUN for initial set up.

  301. 6) To use VersaCAD in high resolution mode,  run AVCAD.BAT.

  304. SPECIAL NOTE ON FONTS:

  306. If you selected any 255-color mode,  you will find the font file
  307. FNT8X14.FNT included in the batch file AVCAD.BAT.  That means,
  308. when you run VersaCAD,  your text font is default to 8x14 dots.
  309. If you wish to use a smaller font,  edit AVCAD.BAT to use the
  310. other font file,  i.e.  FNT8X8.FNT.

  313. A FINAL NOTE:

  315. All VersaCAD high resolution drivers are memory resident programs.
  316. That means,  once a driver is loaded,  it will stay in the system
  317. memory until reboot,  which is also the only way of cleaning up.

  376. 1) Note that this program only installs a driver for DOS Version of
  377.    Microsoft Word version 5.  It's not intended for Word for Windows.

  380.    Word directory on your hard disk.  If you haven't,  install one.

  388. SPECIAL NOTE FOR USERS OF WORD WITH MOUSE

  390. If you are using a mouse when running Microsoft Word with a high
  391. resolution driver installed,  you are advised to use the mouse
  392. driver supplied with this display adapter package.  Other mouse
  393. drivers may not support high resolution modes.  If your display
  394. adapter does not come with a mouse,  don't worry.  The display
  395. driver works fine without a mouse.

  400. and test the audio portion of the VGASTEREO■F/X. Make sure that
  401. "VGAFX.EXE", "VGAFX.HLP", "LEFT.WAV", "RIGHT.WAV" and "SANI.WAV"
  402. are in the same directory. If they are in the default directory,
  403. they will be loaded automatically. If they are located elsewhere
  404. (on a floppy, or if you are executing this program from other
  405. than its home directory) this program will prompt you for the
  406. drive and explicit path to that directory. If you do not know
  407. this, exit this program and locate these files.
