4
With this option, you can test the functionality of your
display adapter, as well as obtain information on your system
and your display adapter, which may be required if you are
reporting problems to our Customer Support representative.
5
Utilities for the display adapter can be installed to a
designated directory on a hard disk for frequent use.
6
Use this option to install display drivers for the chosen application.
7
Suitable value for the IRQ number is dependent on the type of
computer in which the display adapter is installed, whether
the mouse port uses a primary or secondary address, and
software requirement.
Recommended values are as follows:
PC AT/MC
Primary 5 2
Secondary 4 4
8
A series of screen patterns will be displayed. Carefully observe
each screen for anything wrong in colors, fonts, and patterns.
10
This entry allows users to install high resolution display drivers
for the selected application software. For a list of applications
supported, exit this help message and press <Enter>. When you see
the "Install Video Drivers" menu, highlight the application of
interest and press <F1> to display a short installation procedure.
11

up configuration of your display adapter. Send this information
to our Customer Support representative when you report problems.
It may help identify the problems.
13
This entry should contain a full path, in this format:
d:\dirname
where d is the drive letter; dirname is the directory name
starting from the root (i.e. the leading "\" must be present).
All utilities for the display adapter will be copied to this
directory. If the directory does not exist, this installation
program will create one for you.
14
Allows fine tuning of screen positioning and size. New timing
parameters will be saved to the EEPROM of your display adapter.
DO NOT experiment with the horizontal and vertical sync polarity.
The loss of sync may damage your monitor.

DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR AUTOCAD/AUTOSKETCH/AUTOSHADE:
1) This installation program assumes you have installed an AutoCAD/
AutoSketch/AutoShade directory on your hard disk.
2) An ADI driver will be copied to the AutoCAD/AutoSketch/AutoShade
directory, depending on the capability of your display adapter.
3) Exit to DOS and run (for initial set up):
ACAD for AutoCAD; ASKETCH for AutoSketch; ASHADE for AutoShade.
FOR AUTOCAD/AUTOSHADE 386 PROTECTED MODE:
1) The driver and related files will be copied to an existing
directory on your hard disk. Create a directory for use.
2) Further instructions will be given to configure the driver.
ADI DRIVER COMMAND LINE OPTIONS
If you run an ADI driver with the command line option "h", you
will see explanation of all available options. This installation
program automatically makes use of them. If you wish to further
fine tune your driver, the following information may be helpful:
** The '2' option reassigns the 16-color patterns to the 256-
color patterns (for 16-color drivers only).
CAUTION: You will find that if you select this option and your
drawing uses a color number higher than 9, the color is
displayed differently because of the reassignment of colors.
16
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR NON-NETWORKED WINDOWS:
1) This installation program assumes you have installed a Windows
directory on your hard disk. If you haven't, install one,
preferably with "VGA" as the type of "Display".
2) All drivers and related files will be copied to your existing
Windows directory on the hard disk.
3) Exit to DOS. Go to your Windows directory and run SETUP.
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR NETWORKED WINDOWS:
1) This installation program assumes there is a properly installed
shared copy of Windows on the network as well as a local copy of
Windows installed preferably with "VGA" as the type of "Display".
2) All drivers and related files will be copied to the local Windows
directory.
3) Exit to DOS. Make sure both the shared and the local Windows
directories are included in the PATH. Go to the local Windows
directory and run SETUP.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR 32768 COLOR WINDOWS DRIVER
Some Windows application programs attempt to determine the number
of colors available on the display by enquiring the display
driver. The 32768 color driver naturally gives the answer 32768,
which unfortunately is interpreted as a negative quantity by
certain application programs, resulting in odd colors on the
screen. Here is a list of these programs:
o WINDOWS PAINTBRUSH
The PALETTE appears as shades in black and white. For the
colors to reappear, follow this sequence:
Go to Options menu
Select Image Attributes
Change setting to Colors
Go to File menu
Select New
o TETRIS
The screen appears in black and white. The colors may look
different than normal. Don`t panic. The game is still
good. Play as normal.
17
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR GEM DESKTOP:
1) This installation program assumes you intend to install a brand
new GEM directory on the hard disk. Back up any existing GEM
data files.
2) Make a back-up copy for each of the original GEM distribution
diskettes. Put away the originals. Use the copies for
installation.
3) After selecting a desired GEM version and display resolution,
the appropriate driver will be copied to a GEM diskette.
4) The GEM installation program, GEMPREP or GEMSETUP will be
executed and a new GEM directory will be set up.
18
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR LOTUS 1-2-3 AND SYMPHONY:
1) This installation program assumes you have installed a Lotus 1-2-3
or Symphony directory on your hard disk. If you haven't, install
one.
2) 3 drivers will be copied to your Lotus 1-2-3 or Symphony directory:
LOTUS23B.DRV for 132x25 Text mode in 16 colors
LOTUS33B.DRV for 132x44 Text mode in 16 colors
LOTUS37B.DRV for 132x44 Text mode in Black/White
3) The file SINGLE.LBR will be deleted for:
Lotus 1-2-3 Ver. 2.0 and
Symphony Ver. 1.1
4) Exit from this installation program to DOS.
5) Go to your Lotus 1-2-3 or Symphony directory and run Lotus INSTALL.
Follow the instructions given by this installation program.
19
This entry allows the user to enter the directory that contains
all the auxiliary files from the diskette(s) supplied with the
display adapter. Normally you would enter the floppy drive to
which you will insert these diskette(s). However, if you have
already transferred all files from these diskette(s) to a
directory on your hard disk, simply enter the full path
(including the drive letter and the leading "\") to that
directory, e.g.
20
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR VENTURA PUBLISHER:
1) The Ventura Installation program, VPPREP, will be executed first.
2) The appropriate driver will be copied to the Ventura directory
on the hard disk.
3) The Ventura batch file VP.BAT or VPPROF.BAT will be modified to

4) Exit from this installation program to DOS. The first time you
run Ventura, you may encounter some problems. You may need to
edit the batch file to adjust some parameters, e.g. /A=
21
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR VERSACAD:
1) This installation program assumes you have installed a VersaCAD
directory on your hard disk. If you haven't, install one,
with "EGA" selected for Screen Configuration.
2) The appropriate driver will be copied to the VersaCAD directory.
If you selected any 255-color mode, 2 font files will also be
copied: FNT8X14.FNT and FNT8X8.FNT.
3) A batch file called AVCAD.BAT will be created based upon the
original VersaCAD batch file.
4) Exit from this installation program to DOS.
5) Go to your VersaCAD directory and run VRUN for initial set up.
6) To use VersaCAD in high resolution mode, run AVCAD.BAT.
SPECIAL NOTE ON FONTS:
If you selected any 255-color mode, you will find the font file
FNT8X14.FNT included in the batch file AVCAD.BAT. That means,
when you run VersaCAD, your text font is default to 8x14 dots.
If you wish to use a smaller font, edit AVCAD.BAT to use the
other font file, i.e. FNT8X8.FNT.
A FINAL NOTE:
All VersaCAD high resolution drivers are memory resident programs.
That means, once a driver is loaded, it will stay in the system
memory until reboot, which is also the only way of cleaning up.
22
The video BIOS needs to know what monitor you are using for proper
screen display by adjusting parameters like screen positioning,
interlacing, horizontal and vertical synchronizations according to
different monitor types.
23
Select the desired initial text mode that follows a power-up.
24
The video BIOS ROM may be configured as 8-bit, or 16-bit to speed
up video related BIOS function calls.
25
Select a new mouse configuration if the current settings conflict
with other applications.
26
Normally wait states are added to peripheral ROM/RAM access cycles.
If your machine is capable of reading/writing ROM/RAM with no wait
state, enabling zero wait state will improve your system
performance.
27
The I/O access on this display adapter may be defined as 8-bit,
or 16-bit to speed up operations like I/O read/write and image
transfer.
28
When you are using a TTL monochrome monitor, you may wish to
adjust the gray scale that appears on the monitor to get the
best picture quality possible.
29
Scroll up or down to highlight your monitor. Press <Enter>
to accept it.
If your monitor is not shown on this list, refer to the
documentation supplied with your monitor and select the
most compatible one from this list.
The highlighted monitor selection will be written to EEPROM
if you choose to save it. It will stay in effect even after
reset or a power down.
30
DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR MICROSOFT WORD (DOS VERSION):
1) Note that this program only installs a driver for DOS Version of
Microsoft Word version 5. It's not intended for Word for Windows.
2) This installation program assumes you have installed a Microsoft
Word directory on your hard disk. If you haven't, install one.
3) A driver will be copied to that directory, depending on the
capability of your display adapter.
4) Exit to DOS.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR USERS OF WORD WITH MOUSE
If you are using a mouse when running Microsoft Word with a high
resolution driver installed, you are advised to use the mouse
driver supplied with this display adapter package. Other mouse
drivers may not support high resolution modes. If your display
adapter does not come with a mouse, don't worry. The display
driver works fine without a mouse.
31
This entry loads "VGAFX.EXE" which allows the user to configure
and test the audio portion of the VGASTEREO■F/X. Make sure that
"VGAFX.EXE", "VGAFX.HLP", "LEFT.WAV", "RIGHT.WAV" and "SANI.WAV"
are in the same directory. If they are in the default directory,
they will be loaded automatically. If they are located elsewhere
(on a floppy, or if you are executing this program from other
than its home directory) this program will prompt you for the
drive and explicit path to that directory. If you do not know
this, exit this program and locate these files.
32
Select the text mode that you are now going to set.
33
With this option, if you leave your system unattended for a
