v1.06
For RemoteAccess v1.11 *ONLY*

Explainations / What does it do?
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Preview:
Have you ever looked at a user browsing your file base, and said to your
self: "What in the world does this file do here?" or "Time to split this
file area in two", but then thought of the exahousting procedure of
running RACONFIG and changed your mind? Well, none of that anymore! From
now on you will be able to make quick and easy changes to your file
base: You will be able to easly change the name of an area, the path,
the security and flagset, you will be able to create new directories
without many CDes and MDes, you will be able to strict and un-strict
many file areas in couple of key strokes, and more.
At the begining, when I just built my BBS, I didn't think of the fact
that I will ever want to add more file/message areas, and once I entered
the areas one after the other - it was too late. Then I joined UltiNET,
installed FMail, and discovered its excellent Area Manager. It
helped me sort and change the whole message base - That gave me the idea
of making RAFAO, which will help me (and you) sort the file base with
the same ease that FMail provides. RAFAO is designed just like FMail
(with permission from it's author), so you dont have to worry about
learning to work with a new interface (that is if you are familier with
FMail, and if not - it will be a snap).
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
How to use it?
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Once you run RAFAO, you will see the following screen, filled with the
first file area's data:

On the lower line of the screen you will see the following Reminding
Ruler:
F1 Edit F3 Global F5 Browse Ins Insert Del Delete Home First End Last
Each option will now be explained in detail:
Edit
Choose this to begin editing the current file area's data field
(See below).
Global
Choose this if you wish to make major changes to the File Base.
Once you press F3, you will be presented with 3 new options:
Switches
Here you will be allowed to switch globaly one of the
three "switched options" (NewFilesScan / UPDupeScan /
LongDesc). Select the desirable option, then choose
(Y)es or (N)o, and then enter the range (1-200). RAFAO
will then switch the option you chose to (Y)es or to
(N)o (depends on what you selected) within the range.
Security
Same as Swithces only with security level. Choose
Download / Upload / List. Then enter the new security
level (0-32000), and then enter the range.
Flags
Same as Switches only with flags setting. Choose
Download / Upload / List. Then choose flag A, B, C or D.
Then enter the new flag setting (note that you must
enter a whole 8 flag, not just 1), and finally, enter
the range.
Browse
Press F5 to browse (look over) the whole file base (note that
areas with an empty Area Name field will be presented as "-").
While browsing you may use the keypad to move the highlighted
bar up and down. Press <CR> to view the current area, press
<ESC> to exit back to the old file area, and press <DEL> to
delete highlighted area.
Insert
Choose this to find the first unoccupied file area and to begin
editing it.
Delete
Choose this to delete the current file area.
First
Choose this to move to the first file area (1).
Last
Choose this to move to the last file area (200).
(In the upper example, we see file area #1 which is the Fresh Uploads
area). Each of the fields will now be explained in detail.
Area Name
This is the area name as it will be inserted into FILES.RA and
displayed to the RemoteAccess user. The field is 35 characters
in length.
Path
This is the full path (no filename) to FILES.BBS. No backslash
needed. In this directory RA will search for FILES.BBS which
holds the list of files available for download to the current
file area.
Board
This is the number of the current file area. Selecting this
option will cause a window to pop up. You will then be able to
choose a new board number to the current file area by moving the
highlighted option to a different number (Numbers which apear in
darker color are allready selected by other areas and can not be
selected again).
Include in New Files Scan
There is a built in option in RA that scans for new files (for a
specific user). Turning this option to NO will dis-include
current file area in the above scan (useful for TEMP file areas
for example).
Include in Upload Dupelicate Scan
RA, as well as other File Door utilities makes a "Duplicate
Scan" for uploads to assure a user doesn't upload a file which
allready exists on the system. Turning this option to NO will
cuase such utilities not to include this areas in the scan
(useful for areas which failed uploads are stored in).
Permit Long Description
This (when switched to YES) enables RA to handle the long
description correctly.
Download Security
This is the minimal security level one user must have to
download from the current file area.
A/B/C/D Download Flag
Each flag (A, B, C and D) actually has 8 status flags on it.
Those flags enable you to control with more precision who would
be allowed to download from this area. For example, turn on flag
A1 (first flag of A flag [■-------]) to all registered users. Do
the same to your "REGISTERED ONLY" file area. Now, only
registered users will have access to the "REGISTERED ONLY" file
area.
Upload Security
See Download Security.
A/B/C/D Upload Flag
See Download Flag.
List Security
See Download Security.
A/B/C/D List Flag

Troubleshooting
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
FILES.RA not found:
RAFAO searches for FILES.RA in two ways. First, it'll check the
enviroment variable RA for the path. If the RA variable does not
exists, RAFAO will try and find FILES.RA in \RA. If both ways
fail, RAFAO will report the above error. All you need to do is
add the following command to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
Set RA={Your RA Directory}
Incorrect version of configuration file:
In each version of RemoteAccess, the file base is being
maintained in a different way. Since I dought there are any
Sysops who use versions previous to 1.11, I didn't bother making
RAFAO compatible with those older versions, and since I myself
havn't upgraded my BBS to version 2.00, I couldn't make RAFAO
compatible with version 2.00 as well. Using RAFAO on a
RemoteAccess system other than v1.11 might mess up the file
base, that is why I made this Version ID Check - to warn you in
case you havn't read this part before running RAFAO. Now there
is another thing; If you ever tried to install RA2 before (and
for some reason changed your mind after running 111TO200 or
any other file from the RA2 package) the Version ID in the
configuration file has been changed. If you are using RA111, but
this error occures anyway, RAFAO will ask f you wish to change
the configuration file. Answer YES only if you are sure you are
using RA111 and not RA2!

Support/License

RAFAO is an A.L.M Product. As such, it will do {no more and} no less
than expected (as long as it hasn't been tampered with). If you have any
reason to believe RAFAO will not work properly, backup FILES.RA and you
will be safe. In any case I offer no warranty!
RAFAO is a simple little tool, yet it represents several night's sleep.
I have decided (for the first time) to make it a Shareware and not a
Freeware, which mean you can't use it for more than the evaluation
period of 30 days without legally purchasing it. RAFAO is not crippled
in anyway, and will not make "Did you forget to register" remarks,
because I dont believe it does anything but annoy the user. However, I
ask, if you do find RAFAO useful, let me know by sending any amount of
money you find satisfying, and by that encouraging me to keep on
programe (use the address below).
