  3.     In Orienteering we use the term "bearing". It is important to
  4. know that in the field of surveying, what we call a bearing is
  5. referred to as an "Azimuth". The diagram below compares these. As we
  6. discuss using angles and distances in greater detail, we move into
  7. the areas of surveying and geometry and will have to use those fields
  8. terminology. To summarize; we will use "bearing" to describe the
  9. magnetic bearing (any of 360 degrees) we are traveling in and  ALSO
  10. as an angle from north or south (as used in surveying).
