SS - ARRL Sweepstakes Contest logging program
by Les Delmarter, WB6YIK
Hardware requirements:
IBM compatible PC, DOS 3.1 or higher, 640K memory.
SS can handle 4000 contest QSOs.
SS comes initially configured for a monochrome monitor. Color
can be enabled thru the setup option (F3) on the main menu bar.
To begin logging QSOs, press the F1 key at the main menu bar.
Please note that your exchange (as determined from your current
setup definition) is displayed between windows when in logging
mode. Enter the band in Mhz (valid bands are displayed in the
score box). Time may be entered manually or you may press the
ENTER key to insert the current system time (or system time plus
GMT offset).
As each multiplier is worked, the multipler box will change to
indicate that the multiplier is no longer needed (lower intensity
display). Multipliers still in high intensity display have not
been worked. The score will also be updated as each station is
worked.
To get back to the main menu bar, press the ESC key. Press the
F1 key at any log field to go back to the previous field (for
example, press F1 to go from the CHECK field to the CALLSIGN field).
At the main menu bar, pressing the F3 key allows changes to the
setup screen, including the station call, type of entry, GMT offset
amount, and screen colors.
Press the F5 key to re-initialize the log file, F6 to display selected
QSOs, F7 to print your log entry for submission to the contest sponsor.
While at any log field prompt (time, callsign, etc.), press the F8
key to indicate in the log that you are going off the air. NOTE:
once this has been done, SS will enforce the 30 minute rule, which
means you will not be able to log a QSO until 30 minutes have passed
since the F8 key was pressed.
Thank you for using SS. Let me know of any suggestions or problems.
Future revisions are planned, including a CW keying option. Also
available now is a contest logging program for the California QSO
Party (CA-QSO.ZIP).
