  25. Firstly, you must do copies of the original disks and then use the copies
  26. to play and save the game.

  28. LOADING INSTRUCTIONS

  31. AMIGA - Insert disk 1 at the disk loading screen and follow the on screen
  32.         instructions.
  33.  
  34. IBM -   Type TSM at the DOS prompt and follow the on screen instructions to
  35.         install to your hard drive.

  37. This game is not endorsed by any sporting club, person or association.

  39. In the unlikely event of these disks being faulty please return the
  40. ORIGINAL DISKS ONLY (NO PACKAGING) direct to Alternative Software Ltd

  47. STARTING THE GAME
  48. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  49.  
  50. After following the on loading instructions you will access a screen with
  51. two option icons, select the icon relative to your situation.
  52.  
  53. NEW GAME:        Select this icon to start a new game.
  54. LOAD SAVED GAME: Select this option to load a saved game and follow on
  55.                  screen instructions.
  56.  
  57. ONE PLAYER:
  58. ^^^^^^^^^^^
  59.  
  60. Next you select the Team of your choice from the list of league teams. This
  61. is followed by the SELECT CHARACTER screen. When you have selected the
  62. character icon of your choice PLEASE ENTER YOUR FIRST NAME and your LAST
  63. NAME. You will then return to Club Details Screen where you select EXIT.
  64.  
  65. The "SETUP" screen will now appear in the form of a multi-panelled football
  66. which will gradually fill in the panels. When the football is complete the
  67. game will be loaded and you are ready to commence playing. This setup takes
  68. approximately three minutes to complete on the A1200 version.

  70. TWO PLAYERS:

  73. When player one has selected their team, character, entered their name and
  74. returned to the Club Details Screen, then player two selects the 2ND PLAYER
  75. ICON. Follow the procedure as player one, select Team, character and enter
  76. their name. The "SETUP" screen will now appear and will proceed as above.

  82. The office screen contains certain objects which when selected with the
  83. mouse access the following topics.

  101. Here you can access all the information about your chosen club or similar
  102. details for all  the league clubs.

  111. TEAM SELECTION

  114. Additionally you can access your squad of players and select your team for
  115. the next match. to view detils on any player, click players name. Here you
  116. can access Historical details of the player by selecting the HISTORY ICON
  117. or transfer list, fine and treat injuries by selecting the TRANSFER/LIST
  118. ICON.

  120. To view and compare the abilliti9es of your squad select "ATTRIBUTES".
  121. The abbreviations on the ATTRIBUTES SCREEN are
  122.  
  123. POS = Position          HD = Heading
  124. ABL = Ability           TA = Tackling
  125. AVE = Average Rating    PA = Passing
  126. HA  = Handling          ST = Stamina
  127. SH  = Shooting          SP = Speed
  128. FIR = Fitness

  130. To select the players and substitutes for your team click on the number
  131. from 01 - GK then click on the square to the left handside of the players
  132. name. Should you wish to select a player from the RESERVES" and select
  133. player as above.

  135. FRIENDLY MATCHES.
  136. =================
  137.  
  138. Here you can arrange to play pre-season friendly matches.
  139. This will enable you toguage the strength of your squad and improve macth
  140. fitness of your players. First select which week you wish to play by
  141. clicking on the week numbers to the right of "CHOOSE OPPONENT".
  142. Select either the HOME or AWAY ICONS and from the list of teams select
  143. which teams you wish to play. you will then be informed wheteher the
  144. friendly match has been arranged or not, and you can either select further
  145. friendlies or exit to play the match.

  147. PLAYER NEGOTIATIONS.
  148. ====================
  149.  
  150. TRANSFER/LIST/FINE
  151.  
  152. When this icon is selected on your player's detail screen you will have the
  153. options to :-
  154.  
  155.         Place the player on the Transfer market.
  156.         Make the player available for loan.
  157.         Fine him for misconduct.
  158.         Re-value a player.
  159.         Increase his wages.
  160.         Remove a player from Transfer Market.
  161.         Treat injuries.
  162.  
  163. APPROACH BY ANOTHER CLUB.
  164.  
  165. When another club approaches you to buy one of your players the PLAYER
  166. APPROACH screen appears first. To view the player details click on the
  167. player's name. Select either to allow or reject the approach dependant on
  168. the comments in the APPROACHES box. Should you permit the approach and the
  169. player is interested it will move to the TRANSFER NEGOTIATIONS screen.

  171. TRANSFER NEGOTIATIONS.
  172. ----------------------
  173.  
  174. This screen appears when another club wishes to buy one of your players and
  175. also whenn you wish to buy a layer from another club. To view the player
  176. details click on the player's name. Next adjust the value you either want
  177. for the player or you wish to pay for the player by increasing or reducing
  178. the value. Follow the comments or bids in the NEGOTIATION box until a
  179. successful or unsuccessful conclusion.

  181. CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
  182. ---------------------
  183.  
  184. You will access this screen when one of your player's contracts expires or
  185. to negotiate a contract for a new player. The operation of the screen is
  186. similar to the TRANSFER NEGOTIATION screen.

  188. C) FILING CABINET ICON
  189.  
  190. Here you can access details of past matches and future fixtures. You can
  191. also access details of the 'end of season' Playoffs and the pre-season
  192. Charity Shield. To view details of a past match click on the relevant
  193. match.

  195. D) TROPHY ICON.
  196.  
  197. Here you can access the fixtures, previous matches, seedings and past
  198. winners of the major ENGLISH and EUROPEAN Cup Competitions.
  199. To access a particular Cup Competition click on the relevant cup icon and
  200. to view the details of a particular result click on the relevant match.

  202. E) MANAGER DESK ICON.

  204. Here you can access details on all the league Managers and compare your
  205. performance against theirs on the following :-

  223. Here you can allocate one of your scouts to find players whofit the
  224. criteria set by you. You will first select the Scout you wish to complete
  225. the search and then you will select the specific criteriaand qualities you
  226. require. The Scoout will then present you with a list of players who fit
  227. your requirements. To view details of any player on the list, click on
  228. their name and should you wish to buy, follow the procedure detailed in
  229. TRANSFER NEGOTIATIONS under "PLAYER NEGOTIATIONS"
  230.  
  231. REPORTS.
  232. ========

  234. Here you can view any reprts prepared by your scouts and on designated
  235. players. To view a report select REPORTS and then you will be presented
  236. with a screen listing your Scouts and whether they are watching a player or
  237. not, and the name of the player being watched. To view a report click on
  238. the Scout's name and to view details of the player click on his name.
  239.  
  240. TARGETED PLAYERS
  241. ================

  243. Here will be listed the players you have shown an interest in buying by
  244. selecting "ENQUIRE TO BUY" on a player's detail screen.

  246. TRANSFER MARKET.
  247. ================

  249. Here you can view the following lists :_

  251. TRANSFER MARKET   - A list of players who have been put on the transfer
  252.                      list either by their club or by their request.
  253.  
  254. OVERSEAS PLAYERS  - A list of overseas players who want to play for an
  255.                      English Club.
  256.  
  257. LATEST TRANSFERS  - A list of players who have recently transferred from
  258.                     one club to another.
  259.  
  260. NOTE: Should you wish to buy any of the players on the TRANSFER MARKET or
  261. OVERSEAS PLAYERS lists, follow the procedure detailed in TRANSFER
  262. NEGOTIATIONS under PLAYER NEGOTIATIONS.

  264. CHAIRMAN
  265. ========
  266.  
  267. Here you can view any comments on the team's and your performance from the
  268. chairman and the board.
  269.  
  270. G) DATE ICON
  271.  
  272. Click on this icon to advance date. When you reach a date when there are no
  273. matches arranged, a screen will appear informing you of such.
  274.  
  275. H) PLAYING A MATCH - FOOTBALL ICON
  276.  
  277. To play a match you must first advance the DATE ICON to a date when matches
  278. are available and then click on the BALL ICON on the COUCH in the office.
  279. If uou select the BALL ICON when there are no matches on that date a screen
  280. will appear informing you of this.
  281. If you select the BALL ICON and there are matches available that date and
  282. your team are involved the PRE-MATCH TACTICS SELECTION screen will appear
  283. automatically.
  284. Here you can make final adjustments to your team, select the tactics and
  285. view details of opponents, before you exit to play the match.

  287. FINAL ADJUSTMENTS.

  290. To change the positions of any of the players :-
  291. First select the player you wish to move by clicking on his number box.
  292. Next select the REPLACE/SUB ICON.
  293. Then select the player you wish to replace by clicking on his number box.

  295. CHANGE INFORMATION.

  298. To select or change the information of your team :-
  299. Forst select the CHANGE FORMATION ICON. Next form the formation screen
  300. select the FORMATION FOOTBALL ICON of your choice and type of PASSING ICON.
  301. These icons will be highlighted until you next change them.
  302. These changes to the formation will be reflected in the positions of the
  303. players on the field on the screen.

  305. MANUAL ADJUSTMENTS TO FORMATION.

  308. You can also make further adjustmanets to your teams formation by selecting
  309. the following icons after forst selecting a particular players number box.
  310.  
  311. DEF SUPPORT - This player will play a supporting role just behind the
  312.               defence.
  313.  
  314. MID SUPPORT - This player will play a supporting role just behind the
  315.               midfield.
  316.  
  317. ATT SUPPORT - This player will play a supporting role just behind the
  318.               attack.
  319.  
  320. NORMAL      - This player will play in the position selected by your choice
  321.               of formation and number, and will nt move in to play in a
  322.               more attacking or defensive position.
  323.  
  324. ATTACKING   - This player will play in the position selected by your choice
  325.               of formation and number but will also move forward to play in 
  326.               a more attacking position.
  327.  
  328. DEFENDING   - This player will play in the position selected by your choice
  329.               of formation and number but will also move back to play in 
  330.               a more defensive position.

  334. CHANGE STYLE.

  337. To select or chamge the playing style of your team :-
  338. First select CHANGE STYLE ICON
  339. Next from the style screen select the STYLE FOOTBALL ICON of your choice
  340. and the type of TACKLING ICON and MARKING ICON. These icons will be
  341. highlighted until you next change them.

  343. CAPTAIN.

  346. To select or change your choice of Captain first select the player you wish
  347. to be captain then the CAPTAIN ICON.

  352. You select this icont to save or exit the game and to switch the music on
  353. or off. To save a game select the SAVE GAME ICON and follow the on screen
  354. instructions.

  359. Here you can view headlines and media comments on your team. Also you will
  360. see details of any news regarding your team or players.
