  1. OSVISPD - VIDEO PROBLEMS USING TSENG ET4000 ADAPTERS IN SVGA

  5. VIDEO GOES OUT OF SYNC OR A BLURRED STRIP APPEARS ACROSS
  6. THE TOP OF THE DESKTOP USING TSENG ET4000 ADAPTERS IN SVGA.

  11. SYMPTOMS:
  12.  
  13. The display looses sync or a blurred strip appears across the
  14. desktop.  This can happen when you start the stystem or when
  15. switching between full screen sessions.
  16.  
  17. RESOLUTION:
  18.  
  19.  - Make sure the BIOS is at the latest revision and the batch #
  20.    on the chipset is TC6059AF or higher.
  21.  - Run the display adapter utility that came with the adapter
  22.    card to set the proper refresh rates for your montior.
  23.  - Regenerate the SVGADATA.PMI file.
  24.  
  25. PROCEDURES:
  26.  
  27. 1.  Make sure the batch # on the chipset is TC6059AF or higher
  28.     and make sure the bios is at the latest revision, for
  29.     example, Diamond's should be at least 4.23.
  30. 2.  Use RSPDSPI to set video mode back to VGA.  This step is
  31.     necessary if the desktop is not usable.  If the desktop can
  32.     be used in SVAG, go to step 6.
  33. 3.  Open a DOS full screen session and run SVAG ON.
  34. 4.  Exit the DOS full screen.
  35. 5.  Open an OS/2 full screen session and run DSPINSTL to
  36.     install the SVGA drivers.
  37.     DO NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN PROMPTED!
  38. Note:  For OS/2 for Windows use Selective Install instead of
  39.        DSPINSTL.
  40. 6.  Open a DOS full screen session and run the display adapter
  41.     utility that came with the display adapter card.  For
  42.     example, Diamond's utility is called VMODE.  Set the refresh
  43.     rates for your monitor.  The higher you set the refresh the
  44.     better the performance of your monitor, but do not exceed the
  45.     limitations of the monitor (See the specifications).
  46. 7.  Run SVGA ON to regenerate the SVGADATA.PMI file.
  47. 8.  Exit the DOS fullscreen.
  48. 9.  Shutdown and restart the system.
