- 1) Is the printer power cord plugged in?

- 3) Is the customer doing serial or parallel printing?

- 3a) Does the printer parallel or serial data cable connect the printer and
- the system unit?

- 4) Is the printer online?

- 5) Does on printer exist on the OS/2 Desktop?

- 6) Go into the 0S/2 System/Drives/<OS/2 boot> drive folder and drag the file
- AUTOEXEC.BAT or any ASCII file within a drives folder to the printer on the OS/2
- Desktop. Does the file print?

- 7) Does pressing PrntScrn from the OS/2 Desktop result in the printer printin
- g?

- 8) To Install appropriate WIN-OS/2 printer device driver:
- Select OS/2 System
- Select Command Prompts
- Select Win-OS/2 Full Screen
- Select Win-OS/2 Main
- Select Control Panel
- Select Printers
- Select "Use Print Manager"
- Does "Default Printer" specify your printer?
- If no, then:
- Is your printer in list of "Installed Printers"?
- If yes, then:
- Select your printer
- If no, then:
- Select "Add"
- Select appropriate printer driver
- Select "Install"
- Follow directions to install printer driver
- Select "Set as Default Printer"

- 9) To configure printer port connections:
- Select "Connect"
- In list of "Ports",
- Select LPTX.OS2 (for appropriate printer port)
- Deselect "Fast Printing Direct to Port"
- Select "OK"

- 10) Select "Setup".
- For Hewlett Packard Printers,
- For "Memory":
- Select amount of memory in printer
- For "Cartridges (2 max)":
- Select "None" unless cartidges are installed
- Select "Options"
- Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
- Select "OK"
- Select "Fonts"
- Make sure "No fonts installed"
- Select "Exit"
- For other printers,
- Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
- Select "OK"

- 11) For errors in UNIDRV.DLL check \<windir>\system\UNIDRV.DLL,
- Date - 4/24/93, Size - 119344 bytes.

- 12) Are any other fonts installed? Check the ìfonts┘ section in SYSTEM.INI. Font
- s are usually installed in the \<windir>\system subdirectory. TrueType fonts hav
- e a .FOT and .TTF extention. Adobe fonts have a .PFM extention and are located i
- n the \PSFONTS\PFM subdirectory.Adobe type 1 fonts are the only adobe fonts that
- work with WINOS/2. Some fonts may not be supported by OS/2.

- command prompt type, "SPOOL /D:LPTx /O:COMx. If this fixes problem, add the abo
- ve SPOOL statement to STARTUP.CMD.
