  1. Print Problem?

  3. 1)   Is the printer power cord plugged in?
  4.  
  5. 2)   Is the power turned on?
  6.  
  7. 3)   Is the customer doing serial or parallel printing?
  8.  
  9. 3a)  Does the printer parallel or serial data cable connect the printer and
  10. the system unit?
  11.  
  12. 4)    Is the printer online?
  13.  
  14. 5)    Does on printer exist on the OS/2 Desktop?
  15.  
  16. 6)    Go into the 0S/2 System/Drives/<OS/2 boot> drive folder and drag the file
  17. AUTOEXEC.BAT or any ASCII file within a drives folder to the printer on the OS/2
  18.  Desktop. Does the file print?
  19.  
  20. 7)   Does pressing PrntScrn from the OS/2 Desktop result in the printer  printin
  21. g?

  24. WIN-OS/2 related print problems.

  26. 8)    To Install appropriate WIN-OS/2 printer device driver:
  27.         Select OS/2 System
  28.         Select Command Prompts
  29.         Select Win-OS/2 Full Screen
  30.         Select Win-OS/2 Main
  31.         Select Control Panel
  32.         Select Printers
  33.         Select "Use Print Manager"
  34.         Does "Default Printer" specify your printer?
  35.         If no, then:
  36.                      Is your printer in list of "Installed Printers"?
  37.                      If yes, then:
  38.                            Select your printer
  39.                          If no, then:
  40.                                Select "Add"
  41.                                Select appropriate printer driver
  42.                                Select "Install"
  43.                                Follow directions to install printer driver
  44.                              Select "Set as Default Printer"
  45.  
  46. 9)  To configure printer port connections:
  47.            Select "Connect"
  48.            In list of "Ports",
  49.                      Select LPTX.OS2 (for appropriate printer port)
  50.                     Deselect "Fast Printing Direct to Port"
  51.                    Select "OK"

  53. 10) Select "Setup".
  54.             For Hewlett Packard Printers,
  55.                    For "Memory":
  56.                      Select amount of memory in printer
  57.                    For "Cartridges (2 max)":
  58.                      Select "None" unless cartidges are installed

  60.                      Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
  61.                      Select "OK"
  62.                    Select "Fonts"
  63.                      Make sure "No fonts installed"
  64.                      Select "Exit"
  65.              For other printers,
  66.                    Deselect "Print TrueType as Graphics"
  67.                    Select "OK"

  69. 11) For errors in UNIDRV.DLL check \<windir>\system\UNIDRV.DLL,
  70.          Date - 4/24/93, Size - 119344 bytes.

  72. 12) Are any other fonts installed? Check the ìfonts┘ section in SYSTEM.INI. Font
  73. s are usually installed in the \<windir>\system subdirectory. TrueType fonts hav
  74. e a .FOT and .TTF extention. Adobe fonts have a .PFM extention and are located i
  75. n the \PSFONTS\PFM subdirectory.Adobe type 1 fonts are the only adobe fonts that
  76.  work with WINOS/2. Some fonts may not be supported by OS/2.

  78. 13)  For serial printing connect WINOS2 printer to LPTX.0S2. At an os/2
  79. command prompt type,  "SPOOL /D:LPTx /O:COMx. If this fixes problem, add the abo
  80. ve SPOOL statement to STARTUP.CMD.

  82. 14)  Postscript winos2 printer driver requires postscript driver installed
  83. on the OS/2 side.

  85. 15)  In general, use matching printer drivers on OS/2 and WINOS2. However, if th
  86. e WINOS2 driver is not postscript, you can use IBMNULL on the OS/2 side.
