- RESTORING SVGA AFTER APPLYING SERVICE PAK XR06300

- Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
- ----------------------------------------------------------------

- 1. Start the system and go to the OS/2 Desktop. Open an OS/2
- window or full screen and type:
-
- C:\OS2\INSTALL.
- (C: is drive where OS/2 is located)
-
- 2. Service Pack with Diskettes:
-
- a. At C:\OS2\INSTALL type:
- RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:A:\ /S:C:
-
- b. Insert display diskette 1 from service pack in
- drive A: and press Enter.
- c. Follow the prompts on the screen.

- Service Pack with CD-ROM:
-
- a. At C:\OS2\INSTALL type:
- RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:\Y:\SPZ629\ /T:C:
-
- note:Y: is the CD-ROM drive letter.
- c: is os2 boot drive.
-
- 3. Go the OS2 sub-directory. If SVGADATA.PMI and SVGADATA.ERR
- are there, delete them.
-
- 4. Perform shutdown and restart the system.
-
- 5. Open an OS/2 session and create a temporary directory. Type:
- MD TEMP and press Enter.
-
- 6. Insert system diskette 1 from OS/2 for Windows G, not
- the service pack and type:
-
- C:UNPACK A:BUNDLE C:\TEMP and press Enter.
- CD TEMP and press Enter.
- COPY PSXXX.DSC C:\OS2\INSTALL\*.* and press Enter.

- NOTE:xxx is the name of video chipset.
-
- If you have 5 1/4 diskettes, use system diskette 2.
-
- 7. Do selective install for SVGA using OS/2 for Windows GA.
-
- 8. Open OS/2 System icon.
- 9. Open system setup icon.
- 10. Open selective install icon.
- 11. Select Primary Display and select OK.
- 12. Select "Super VGA Array (svga) and select OK.
- 13. Select OK on the next screen.
- 14. Select Install.
- 15. For Source Directory:
- a. With diskettes, select Install and follow the prompts
- on the screen.
- b. With CD-ROM, select the Change push button, select
- OS2SE21 sub- directory, then select Install.
- NOTE: Anwser "yes" to all questions.

- 16. Perform shutdown and restart the system.
- 17. Apply service pack again. This only updates some video
- related files.

- ** psxxx refers to:
- chipset .dsc extension

- for ATI PSATI.DSC
- for Cirrus Logic PSCL.DSC
- for Headland HT209 PSHEAD.DSC
- for Trident 8900c PSTRID.DSC
