  11. SYMPTOM: You installed OS/2 for Windows and get a RED
  12.          SCREEN or RED BOX with error message "OPEN FILE
  13.          ERROR" in the INSTALL.LOG.
  14.  
  15.  
  16. RESOLUTION: The SETUP.INF is corrupt and should be be copied
  17.             into the Windows 3.1, WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.
  18.  
  19.  
  20. PROCEDURE:
  21.  
  22. 1.   Go to Windows 3.1 subdirectory.
  23.  
  24. 2.   Type:  CD\WINDOWS\SYSTEM   and press Enter.
  25.  
  26.      (You should be in the WINDOWS\SYSTEMS subdirectory)
  27.  
  28. 3.   Type: REN SETUP.INF SETUP.OLD  and press Enter.
  29.  
  30. 4.   Insert the Windows 3.1 Diskette 1 in drive A:.
  31.  
  32. 5.   Type:  A:  and press Enter.
  33.  
  34. 6.   Type:  COPY SETUP.INF X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM  and press Enter.
  35.  
  36.        (X:  the drive where Windows 3.1 resides)
  37.  
  38. 7.   Remove the diskette.
  39.  
  40. 8.   Try Installation again.
