- Please read through the following choices and use the
- one best suited to your situation.

- 1. Removing OS/2 Warp from a preloaded PS/2
- 2. Using DOS to remove OS/2 Warp
- 3. Using Windows to remove OS/2 Warp

- REMOVING OS/2 WARP FROM A PRELOADED PS/2 SYSTEM
- ----------------------------------------------------------------

- Remember, the WARP BonusPak needs OS/2 WARP to work. It may not
- function properly with previous versions of the operating system.
-
- If you are removing OS/2 WARP to use OS/2 2.0, 2.1 or 2.11:
-
- 1. Use the Diskette Factory to create a backup of your WARP system.
- 2. Backup any other files you may have on the system that you
- want to keep.
- 3. Begin the installation of OS/2 2.x. When prompted, choose to
- FORMAT the partition containing WARP. Format deletes all
- files in the partition.
- 4. Continue the installation.

- REMOVING OS/2 WARP FROM ANY SYSTEM
- ----------------------------------------------------------------

- Using DOS to Remove OS/2 Warp:
- -----------------------------
- 1. Dual Boot to DOS from OS/2.
-
- 2. Start the Dos Shell. From a DOS prompt, type:
-
- DOSSHELL and press Enter.
-
- 3. Highlight the following directories and press Del.
-
- Path: \IBMWORKS
- Path: \FAXWORKS
- Path: \HALITE
- Path: \TCPIP
- Path: \P2P
- Path: \CSERVE
- Path: \DESKTOP (Plus any other \DESKTOP#
- directories)
- Path: \MAINTENA (All included files and
- subdirectories)
- Path: \MMOS2
- Path: \NOWHERE
- Path: \NOWHERE1
- Path: \OS2
- Path: \PSFONTS (All included files and
- subdirectories)
- Path: \SPOOL

- 4. Select YES to delete.
-
- 5. Press Tab to move to the File window to delete system,
- hidden, or read only files.
-
- 6. Select Yes for deleting system, hidden, or read only files.
-
- 7. Press Shift+Tab to return to the directory window to resume
- deleting directories.

- NOTE: Do NOT remove these subdirectories if you want to keep
- DOS/Windows:
- Path: \DOS *KEEP*
- Path: \WINDOWS *KEEP*
- Path: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM *KEEP*

- 3. Open a DOS prompt.
-
- 4. From the C:> prompt type the following command, pressing
- Enter after each.

- ATTRIB OS*.* -R -S -H
- ATTRIB *.?SF -R -S -H
- DEL OS*.*
- DEL *.?SF
- DEL SOM.IR
- DEL README

- 5. From the C:> prompt type:
-
- COPY WINDOS.COM WIN.COM and press Enter.
- Windows can now be started by typing: WIN at the DOS command prompt.

- Using Windows to Remove OS/2 Warp:
- ---------------------------------

- 1. Dual Boot to DOS from OS/2.

- 2. Start Windows from DOS prompt. Type:
-
- WINDOS.COM and press Enter.
-
- 3. Select Main Group.
-
- 4. Select File Manager.
-
- 5. Highlight the following directories and press Del.
-
- Path: \IBMWORKS
- Path: \FAXWORKS
- Path: \HALITE
- Path: \TCPIP
- Path: \P2P
- Path: \CSERVE
- Path: \DESKTOP (Plus any other \DESKTOP#
- directories)
- Path: \MAINTENA (All included files and
- subdirectories)
- Path: \MMOS2
- Path: \NOWHERE
- Path: \NOWHERE1
- Path: \OS2
- Path: \PSFONTS (All included files and
- subdirectories)
- Path: \SPOOL

- 6. Select Yes to ALL.

- 7. Select Yes for deleting system, hidden, or read only files.
-
- NOTE: Do NOT remove these subdirectories if you want to keep
- DOS/Windows:
- Path: \DOS *KEEP*
- Path: \WINDOWS *KEEP*
- Path: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM *KEEP*

- 3. Shutdown Windows.
-
- 4. From the C:> prompt type the following, pressing Enter after
- each.

- ATTRIB OS*.* -R -S -H
- ATTRIB *.?SF -R -S -H
- DEL OS*.*
- DEL *.?SF
- DEL SOM.IR
- DEL README

- 5. From the C:> prompt type:
-
- COPY WINDOS.COM WIN.COM and press Enter.

- NOTE: If you do not have Windows installed, skip step 5.
-

- You can now start Windows by typing: WIN at the DOS command
- prompt.
