  11. Please read through the following choices and use the
  12. one best suited to your situation.

  14.    1.  Removing OS/2 Warp from a preloaded PS/2
  15.    2.  Using DOS to remove OS/2 Warp
  16.    3.  Using Windows to remove OS/2 Warp

  19. REMOVING OS/2 WARP FROM A PRELOADED PS/2 SYSTEM
  20. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  21.  
  22. Remember, the WARP BonusPak needs OS/2 WARP to work.  It may not
  23. function properly with previous versions of the operating system.
  24.  
  25. If you are removing OS/2 WARP to use OS/2 2.0, 2.1 or 2.11:
  26.  
  27. 1. Use the Diskette Factory to create a backup of your WARP system.
  28. 2. Backup any other files you may have on the system that you
  29.    want to keep.
  30. 3. Begin the installation of OS/2 2.x.  When prompted, choose to
  31.    FORMAT the partition containing WARP.  Format deletes all
  32.    files in the partition.
  33. 4. Continue the installation.

  36. REMOVING OS/2 WARP FROM ANY SYSTEM
  37. ----------------------------------------------------------------

  39. Using DOS to Remove OS/2 Warp:
  40. -----------------------------
  41. 1. Dual Boot to DOS from OS/2.
  42.  
  43. 2. Start the Dos Shell. From a DOS prompt, type:
  44.  
  45.         DOSSHELL and press Enter.
  46.  
  47. 3. Highlight the following directories and press Del.
  48.  
  49.      Path:           \IBMWORKS
  50.      Path:           \FAXWORKS
  51.      Path:           \HALITE
  52.      Path:           \TCPIP
  53.      Path:           \P2P
  54.      Path:           \CSERVE
  55.      Path:           \DESKTOP (Plus any other \DESKTOP#
  56.                                     directories)
  57.      Path:           \MAINTENA (All included files and
  58.                                     subdirectories)
  59.      Path:           \MMOS2
  60.      Path:           \NOWHERE
  61.      Path:           \NOWHERE1
  62.      Path:           \OS2
  63.      Path:           \PSFONTS (All included files and
  64.                                     subdirectories)
  65.      Path:           \SPOOL
  66.  
  67. 4.  Select YES to delete.
  68.  
  69. 5.  Press Tab to move to the File window to delete system,
  70.     hidden, or read only files.
  71.  
  72. 6.  Select Yes for deleting system, hidden, or read only files.
  73.  
  74. 7.  Press Shift+Tab to return to the directory window to resume
  75.     deleting directories.

  77. NOTE: Do NOT remove these subdirectories if you want to keep
  78.       DOS/Windows:
  79.       Path:           \DOS               *KEEP*
  80.       Path:           \WINDOWS           *KEEP*
  81.       Path:           \WINDOWS\SYSTEM    *KEEP*

  83. 3. Open a DOS prompt.

  85. 4. From the C:> prompt type the following command, pressing
  86.    Enter after each.

  88.     ATTRIB OS*.* -R -S -H
  89.     ATTRIB *.?SF -R -S -H
  90.     DEL OS*.*
  91.     DEL *.?SF
  92.     DEL SOM.IR
  93.     DEL README

  95. 5. From the C:> prompt type:

  97.     COPY WINDOS.COM WIN.COM  and press Enter.
  98.    Windows can now be started by typing: WIN at the DOS command prompt.

  101. Using Windows to Remove OS/2 Warp:

  105. 1. Dual Boot to DOS from OS/2.

  107. 2. Start Windows from DOS prompt.  Type:

  109.              WINDOS.COM  and press Enter.
  110.  
  111. 3. Select Main Group.
  112.  
  113. 4. Select File Manager.
  114.  
  115. 5. Highlight the following directories and press Del.

  117.      Path:           \IBMWORKS
  118.      Path:           \FAXWORKS
  119.      Path:           \HALITE
  120.      Path:           \TCPIP
  121.      Path:           \P2P
  122.      Path:           \CSERVE
  123.      Path:           \DESKTOP (Plus any other \DESKTOP#
  124.                                     directories)
  125.      Path:           \MAINTENA (All included files and
  126.                                     subdirectories)
  127.      Path:           \MMOS2
  128.      Path:           \NOWHERE
  129.      Path:           \NOWHERE1
  130.      Path:           \OS2
  131.      Path:           \PSFONTS (All included files and
  132.                                     subdirectories)
  133.      Path:           \SPOOL

  135. 6.  Select Yes to ALL.
  136.  
  137. 7.  Select Yes for deleting system, hidden, or read only files.

  139. NOTE: Do NOT remove these subdirectories if you want to keep
  140.       DOS/Windows:
  141.       Path:           \DOS               *KEEP*
  142.       Path:           \WINDOWS           *KEEP*
  143.       Path:           \WINDOWS\SYSTEM    *KEEP*

  145. 3. Shutdown Windows.
  146.  
  147. 4. From the C:> prompt type the following, pressing Enter after
  148.    each.

  150.     ATTRIB OS*.* -R -S -H
  151.     ATTRIB *.?SF -R -S -H
  152.     DEL OS*.*
  153.     DEL *.?SF
  154.     DEL SOM.IR
  155.     DEL README

  157. 5. From the C:> prompt type:

  159.     COPY WINDOS.COM WIN.COM and press Enter.

  161. NOTE:  If you do not have Windows installed, skip step 5.

  164. You can now start Windows by typing: WIN at the DOS command
  165. prompt.
