  43.  
  44. The   PRO   DEV   SOFTWARE   PDS*BASE  DATA  BASE  SYSTEM  is  a  MASTER/DE-
  45. TAIL  type of hierarchal data base. It is also known as  a  MOTHER/DAUGHTER 
  46. or MASTER/SLAVE type of data base. This type  of  data  base  is  usually 
  47. found  on  only  Main Frame type of  
  48. computers.  Although  there are other systems of this hierarchal  nature  on 
  49. the market for small computers, most of them operate  as   machine  language 
  50. programs.  Often  they  need  a  special  language to allow the user to
  51. operate them.  The  PDS*BASE   System consists of a series of program genera-
  52. tors that  create   both  a custom data base (with up to 10 files) and BASIC 
  53. language  programs  to  operate  against  the custom data base.   Thus,  the 
  54. generated  programs can be easily modified as desired.  
  55.    The  PDS*BASE  System  can  be operated by a user not conversant with  the 
  56. BASIC  programming  language,  but that user will  not normally  be  able  to 
  57. take  advantage  of many of the  advanced features.  Thus,  the  PDS*BASE 
  58. DATA  BASE System is  designed more for the person who is reasonably conver-
  59. sant with  the BASIC language.
