Senior Manager - SMDS Engineering - MCI;
Chairman of the SMDS Interest Group Technical Working Group
C.V.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1973. I
have 24 years experience in data and telecommunications. I am a Registered
Professional Engineer. I managed the engineering team that designed MCI's
initial Frame Relay and SMDS commercial networks. I managed MCI's
engineering support with Merit and IBM in the NSFnet and ANSnet during the
period from August 1992 until April 1994. I lead the engineering team that
developed MCI's Technical Response section for the NSF's vBNS RFP. MCI won
that contract. I represented MCI at the IETF during this period and worked
on the IPAE Working Group. I have been a member of the IEEE since 1970 and
was the Treasurer, Vice-Chair and Chairman for the Houston, Texas, USA IEEE
COMSOC for the years 1983, 1984 and 1985. I have represented MCI on the
ISOC Advisory Council since 1992 and was the acting Chairman for 1994.
Statement
I have been actively involved in the ISOC Advisory Council since its'
conception. I have attended ever annal ISOC meeting at INET since the
initial meeting in Kobe. I took the role of Acting Chairman during a
period when both ISOC and the Advisory Council were trying to establish
their direction and purpose. During that period, I tried to build a
positive relationship within ISOC. I would like the opportunity to
extend that effort as we continue to make the Internet a major
international resource.
