  27. Description of Working Group:

  29.      The SNA DLC Services MIB Working Group is chartered to define a set of
  30.       managed
  31.      objects for the SDLC and LLC-2 data link controls for SNA
  32.      networks.  These objects will be the minimum necessary to provide
  33.      the ability to monitor and control those devices, providing fault,
  34.      configuration, and performance management, and will be consistent
  35.      with the SNMP framework and existing SNMP standards.
  36.  
  37.      The working group will consider existing enterprise-specific MIB modules
  38.      that define objects which support management of these devices.  The
  39.      group may choose to consider any work done by the IEEE in the
  40.      area of managed object definition for LLC-2.  It will also make sure
  41.      that its work is aligned with the SNA NAU Services MIB Working Group,
  42.      due to the close relationship between the devices being worked on by 
  43.      the two groups.

  45.      The working group recognizes that managed objects for other SNA data
  46.      link controls and related components (e.g., QLLC, System/370 Channel,
  47.      Data Link Switching, and ESCON) may need to be identified in the
  48.      future.  These objects are out of scope for the current charter;
  49.      however, once the group completes its charter, a new charter
  50.      identifying some or all of these components may be considered.
