  10. The Benchmarking Methodology Working Group had a well attended and
  11. productive meeting in Boulder.
  12.  
  13. The terminology memo was moved forward to the IAB as an informational
  14. document and will be sent to the RFC editor.
  15.  
  16. There was much discussion on what parameters should be included in the
  17. list of information requested of vendors for a specific device.  There
  18. was concern expressed that the list of questions be framed in such a way
  19. that vendors will not be asked to reveal what they might consider to be
  20. trade secrets.  A list of parameters was tentatively decided upon and
  21. fell into two categories:
  22.

  24.   1. Informational parameters that require behavior descriptions.
  25.   2. Parameters that require specific testing procedures and reporting
  26.      formats.
  27.  
  28.  
  29. An example of the first is device behavior when in an overloaded state,
  30. does it throw away all incoming frames or does it do some form of
  31. prioritization.  An example of the second is the frames per second
  32. throughput of a device.
  33.  
  34. A draft of the methodology memo is planned for January with a video
  35. conference to be held about that time.
