  17. The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) provides a standard method for
  18. transporting multi-protocol datagrams over point-to-point links.  This
  19. document describes the use of HDLC-like framing for PPP encapsulated
  20. packets.  This RFC is the product of the Point-to-Point Protocol
  21. Extensions Working Group of the IETF.
  22.  
  23. This is now a Standard Protocol.
  24.  
  25. This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the
  26. Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for
  27. improvements.  Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet
  28. Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and
  29. status of this protocol.  Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
