  18. The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) provides a standard method for
  19. transporting multi-protocol datagrams over point-to-point links.  PPP
  20. also defines an extensible Link Control Protocol.  This document
  21. defines a method for negotiating data compression over PPP links.
  22. This RFC is the product of the Point-to-Point Protocol Extensions
  23. Working Group of the IETF.

  25. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.

  27. This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the
  28. Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for
  29. improvements.  Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet
  30. Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and
  31. status of this protocol.  Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
