- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Help for Volume Control ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- devices that you have running in your system. Volume Control also is used to
- turn the sound on or off for all of the players.

-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Help for Controlling the Volume of Multiple Devices ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Volume Control determines the volume level in terms of a percentage. This
- percentage is applied to all devices for which the volume can be set.
-
- If other application programs (such as the MMPM/2 Media Player) are controlling
- specific devices, then adjusting the Volume Control has the following effects:
-
- o Decreasing the Volume Control will decrease the volume for a device, even if
- the controlling application program has set the volume of the device to the
- maximum level.
- o Increasing the Volume Control will increase the volume for a device up to the
- level set by the controlling application program.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. Help for MMPM/2 System External Volume Control ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- It is possible to control the volume of an external device regardless of the
- volume settings shown by the Volume Control or other applications. For
- instance, a device can be connected to an audio amplifier or powered speakers.
- In this case, it is possible to raise or lower the actual volume for that
- device even if the Volume Control settings are unchanged. One exception is if
- the volume is set to 0 or if it is muted.
-
- Of course, once a given volume has been set externally, Volume Control can be
- used to lower or raise the volume level.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. Help for Adjusting Volume ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Setting the Volume Control to a given level will affect devices differently,
- depending upon the capability of the particular device.
-
- For example, certain models of the IBM CD-ROM device support only two volume
- settings, On or Off. In this case, adjusting the Volume Control will have no
- apparent effect on the volume of the device.
-
- Similarly, some devices (such as the IBM M-Audio Capture and Playback Adapter),
- reduce the volume more quickly than the Volume Control would indicate. That is,
- if you use the dial control to reduce the volume from 100%, you will notice
- that the volume is effectively zero, even if the volume dial control is
- indicating 75%.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 10. Help for Saving a Low Volume Setting ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Although you cannot save the volume-level setting in the Volume Control window
- when the sound is muted, you can adjust the volume to very low levels and save
- the setting.
-
- You can use another application program, but you will notice that no audible
- sound is present. To produce sound, use the Volume Control window to adjust
- the volume level to a higher setting, then save the setting.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Help for Multimedia Closed Captioning ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Closed captioning is the ability for an application to provide a visual
- representation of sounds to enable those whose hearing is impaired to view what
- is being said.
-
- 1. Select Multimedia Presentation Manager/2.
- 2. Select Multimedia Setup.
-
- For additional information, select the Help push button in the Multimedia Setup
- window.

-
- 1. Select Multimedia Presentation Manager/2.
- 2. Select Media Converter.
