TCP/IP Configuration Notebook key operations include:

o Cursor Movement Keys
o Editing Keys

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Cursor movement keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use these keys to move the cursor through the various screens:

Key           Description
Up            Moves the cursor up to the previous field.
Down          Moves the cursor down to the next field.
Right         Moves the cursor right one character.
Left          Moves the cursor left one character.
Home          Moves the cursor to the beginning of the current line.
End           Moves the cursor to the end of the current line.
Tab           Moves the cursor to the next field or button on the screen.
Page Up       Scrolls the text in the lists up one window.
Page Down     Scrolls the text in the lists down one window.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. Editing keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use these keys to edit the text in the various fields:

Key           Description
Insert        Switches between insert and overtype mode.

              In insert mode, new text is inserted at the cursor position,
              moving the existing text to the right.

              In overtype mode, the new text replaces the existing text.
Delete        If text is selected, the selected text is deleted.
Backspace     If text is selected, the selected text is deleted. If no text is
              selected, the character to the left of the cursor is deleted, and
              any remaining characters to the right of the cursor are shifted
              left.
Shift+Del     Cuts the selected text out of the file and saves it in the
              Clipboard.
Shift+Ins     Pastes the text in the Clipboard into the file at the cursor
              position.

              If text is selected, the Clipboard text will replace the selected
              text.

              If no text is selected, the Clipboard text is inserted at the
              cursor position.
End           Moves the cursor to the end of the current line.
Page Up       Scrolls the text in the lists up one window.
Page Down     Scrolls the text in the lists down one window.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3. Text selection keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use these keys to select text and extend existing selected areas of text.

CAUTION:

If an area of text is selected, pressing any character key, the Backspace key,
or the Delete key deletes the selected text from the file.

Key                  Description
Shift+arrow          Selects text or extends a selection in the direction of
                     the arrow.
Shift+Home           Selects text or extends a selection to the beginning of
                     the current line.
Shift+End            Selects text or extends a selection to the end of the
                     current line.
Shift+Ctrl+Right     Selects text or extends a selection to the beginning of
                     the next word.
Shift+Ctrl+Left      Selects text or extends a selection to the beginning of
                     the previous word.
Shift+Ctrl+Home      Selects text or extends a selection to the beginning of
                     the file.
Shift+Ctrl+End       Selects text or extends a selection to the end of the
                     file.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.1. IP Address ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the internet address (IP address) of the X.25 interface on this host.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.2. Subnet Mask ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

The Subnet mask field specifies how much of the local address portion of the
X.25 IP address to reserve for a subnetwork address.

Enter the subnet mask in 32-bit dotted decimal notation as follows:

 1. Code all 1s in the bit positions for the network portion of the IP address.
 2. Code all 1s in the bit positions for the subnetwork number.
 3. Code all 0s in the bit positions for the host number.  The host number must
    be at least 1 bit.
 4. Convert each byte to a decimal number and separate the numbers with
    periods.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.2.1. 32-bit Dotted Decimal Notation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

32-bit dotted decimal notation consists of four 8-bit numbers written as a
decimal and separated by periods.  For example, when the bit patterns

00001001 00100010 10000000 00100010

are converted to decimal and separated by periods, the 32-bit dotted decimal
notation is 9.34.128.34.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.3. Maximum Transmission Unit ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the maximum size of a transmission unit that your communications adapter
will transmit.  The default value is 576.

The maximum transmission unit size is not negotiated with the remote host.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.4. Timeout ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the amount of time in seconds that a switched virtutual circuit (SVC)
connection is established for the internet address (IP address) specified in
the IP Address entry field.

The default value is 1800 seconds (30 minutes). Valid time-out values range
from 0 to 3600.  A value of 0 indicates the SVC connection remains
indefinitely.

Use this page to configure the following X.25 information:

To define the X.25 local directory, complete the X25IP Local Directory entry
field.

To add, edit, or delete the X25RTE entries, select the X25RTE list box and then
select the appropriate push button:

Add
   Adds an entry to the X25RTE list box.
Edit
   Allows you to modify the highlighted X25RTE entry.
Delete
   Deletes the highlighted X25RTE entry.

To add, edit, or delete the X25DIR File entries, select the X25DIR list box and
then select the appropriate push button:

Add
   Adds an entry to the X25DIR File list box.
Edit
   Allows you to modify the highlighted X25DIR File entry.
Delete
   Deletes the highlighted X25DIR File entry.

Type the name of the local directory defined in the Communications Manager/2
X.25 configuration file X25ES1.CGF.  The local directory associates a local DTE
with a link.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.2. X25RTE ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

This list contains a list of Communication Manager/2 Routing Table Entries used
to determine which incoming X.25 calls are to be routed to the TCP/IP
application.

Use this window to add, edit, or delete entries in the X25RTE list box.

For help on any selectable field, select the field and press F1.

 3. Select the Yes push button in the Delete X25RTE window.  To retain the
    entry in the X25RTE list box, select the No push button.

To edit a X25RTE entry, do the following:

 1. Select the X25RTE entry you want to edit.

    list box.

Type the name of a routing table used to determine which X.25 calls are to be
routed to the TCP/IP application.

The X.25 Communications Manager/2 configuration file is X25ES1.CFG.

address with an internet address (IP address).

The X25DIR File consists of the following information:

o Destination Address
o Remote Directory

All outgoing IP packets with the IP address specified in the Destination
Address entry field are sent over the X.25 interface to the remote DTE address.

o Local LU Name

 3. Select the Delete push button in the Delete SNALINK window.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.5. Destination IP Address ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the internet address (IP address) of the destination host for the LU6.2
connection.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.6. Destination LU Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the name of the destination LU.  This is the alias name of the Partner LU
that you created for the destination host when configuring SNA.

The destination LU name must be unique and have a maximum of 8 characters.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.7. Timeout ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type a value in seconds that determines the amount of time before the session
is deallocated because no session activity is detected.

The Timeout value can be 0 or a positive integer. A timeout value of 0 never
times out the session.

For dependent LUs, set the timeout value to 0, as the session cannot be
reallocated after it has timed out.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.8. Mode Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the mode name to be used in the session-allocate request. Type the value
SNALMODE unless the destination node requires another mode name.  This value
must be in uppercase letters.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.9. INIT/DATA ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type one of the following values to define when the session to the destination
LU is to be established:

INIT
   The session is established during initialization of SNALINK.  Do not specify
   INIT with the DEP option. If you specify INIT, the remote node must also
   specify INIT.
DATA
   The sending session is established when there is IP data to send to the
   destination node.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.10. DEP/INDEP ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type one of the following local LU definitions:

DEP
   The local LU is a dependent LU.   Do not specify DEP with the INIT option.
   You do not need to specify a Local LU Name if the local LU is a dependent
   LU.
INDEP
   The local LU is an independent LU.  If you specify INDEP, you must complete
   the Local LU Name entry field.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.11. Local LU Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Type the name of the local LU for the sending session.  This is the alias name
of the LU that you created when configuring SNA.

If you specify the INDEP option, you must complete this entry field.  This
field is not required if you specify the DEP option.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.12. SNALINK Add ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use this window to add an entry to the SNALINK Connections Table list box.

To add an entry, complete the following entry fields:

o Destination IP Address
o Destination LU Name
o Timeout
o Mode Name
o INIT/DATA
o DEP/INDEP
o Local LU Name

To add the entry to the SNALINK Connections Table list box, select the Enter
push button.

To cancel the addition of the entry to the SNALINK Connections Table list box,
select the Cancel push button.
