  4. Here is the release of TheNet Plus version 2.08, as compiled by NJ7P.
  5.  
  6. We are providing all the necessary tools required to get your TheNet Plus node
  7. up and running with a minimum of fuss.
  8.  
  9. PKZIP is being used as a means for compressing the files as well as keeping
  10. the pertinent information together.  These files are automatically UNZIPPED
  11. when you type, from the DOS prompt: "TNP208".   The following files will be
  12. unzipped:

  14. TN208.ROM
  15. TN208B.ROM
  16. TN208.DOC
  17. SET208.EXE
  18. SET208.DOC

  21. TN208.ROM is the actual ROM image.  It will be necessary to invoke SET208.EXE
  22. which is a special utility designed for version 2.08 with which to "set" your
  23. callsign, SSID, alias and password or any default parameter changes prior to
  24. programming the code into a 27C256 EPROM node chip.  The SET208 utility will
  25. output these changes into either a binary or a hex format file, whichever you
  26. prefer.  This file is then programmed into the chip by your EPROM programmer.

  28. Programming procedures of course will vary with the type of programmer you have
  29. available.  Therefore, it will be necessary for you to follow the documentation
  30. that comes with your programmer.  Following programming, the 27C256 is then
  31. ready to be inserted into your node TNC as indicated in the instructions given
  32. in the TN206.DOC file.

  34. TN206.DOC and TN208.DOC are in flat ASCII without any embedded word processor
  35. control characters.  The earlier TN206.DOC is recommended for reference since
  36. it contains most of the preliminary information you will need for node set-up
  37. and operation.  It is suggested these files be printed for ready reference.
