  9. Acc.Chooser is a New Desk Accessory (NDA) for the Apple IIgs
  10. which provides the ability to install both new and classic
  11. desk accessories when you would like to, rather then having
  12. to reboot. Acc.Chooser is different from other products,
  13. like InstallDA by TES Systems, because it itself is a desk
  14. accessory, so you will not force to quit an application and
  15. run it to install desk accessories.

  17. Please note that Acc.Chooser is _shareware_, not public
  18. domain. You are welcome and encouraged to give copies away
  19. to anyone and everyone. If after using Acc.Chooser for a
  20. trial period you find is useful, you should send in the
  21. shareware fee of $15 (see below). If you do not want to pay
  22. the shareware fee, you should stop using Acc.Chooser.

  45. - WHO TO USE
  46.  
  47. To use Acc.Chooser, you must first install it in the
  48. */SYSTEM/Desk.Accs directory of the GS/OS (or ProDOS 16)
  49. disks that you boot up your computer with. Next, restart or
  50. reboot the computer using one of the disks you have copied
  51. Acc.Chooser onto.
  52.  
  53. The Acc.Chooser purpose is to save you from having to manage
  54. desk accessories into and out the DESK.ACCS folder; in fact,
  55. the only desk accessory you need in your apple menu is
  56. Acc.Chooser.
  57. This can be especially handy if you like to use different
  58. desk accessories with different applications or are using a
  59. 3.5 inch drive as your boot device and have a lot of desk
  60. accessories and fonts. Acc.Chooser gives you full control
  61. over your desk accessories: now you will only have to load
  62. the accessories you need, instead of figuring out witch
  63. accessories you might need in the future, or re-installing
  64. desk accessories on each program disk. Acc.Chooser have the
  65. ability to load both CDA and NDA _from within_ the
  66. applications you use.
  67. When you select Acc.Chooser from the apple menu a dialog
  68. will appear on the desktop, with the copyright notice. Click
  69. on the box and will appear a big dialog with the option to
  70. choose the desk accessory type. Selecting this one will
  71. bring up the standard file open dialog box.  This box works
  72. the same as it does for other desktop applications.  Only
  73. Classic Desk Accessories or New Desk Accessories and Folders
  74. (subdirectories) can be opened. To change disk press the
  75. appropriate button (o press the tab key). Double click on
  76. the name of the desk accessory that you would like to
  77. install or highlight your selection and click on the open
  78. button. The accessory will be load in memory and the menu
  79. bar will blink to confirm the operation. The standard file
  80. open dialog box will appear again and you will be able to
  81. choose another accessory or click the cancel button (or
  82. press apple-. keys) to exit.

  84. Please be aware that there is a limit of 11 Classic Desk
  85. Accessories and 249 New Desk Accessories, of course if you
  86. run out of memory first these numbers may be less. If you
  87. need more than 11 Classic Desk Accessories, we suggest you
  88. check out Glen Bredon's Master CDA.
  89. Normally, only the first 16-17 desk accessories are visible
  90. under the Apple menu. If you find yourself needing more,
  91. check out Two Apples by Tim Swihart or Master NDA by TES
  92. Systems.

  95. - COMPATIBILITY

  97. Acc.Chooser seems to work well with just about everything.
  98. Some desktop applications (Sierra 3D Animated Adventures,
  99. The Music Studio, Instant Music, to name a few) don't give
  100. access to new desk accessories, so Acc.Chooser will not be
  101. able to be used.

  103. A good rule is to test Acc.Chooser thoroughly with the
  104. applications you plan on using it with and, as always, SAVE
  105. YOUR WORK OFTEN!
