  15. DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
  16.        The  _x_s_t_d_c_m_a_p  utility  can  be used to selectively define
  17.        standard colormap properties.  It is intended  to  be  run
  18.        from a user's X startup script to create standard colormap
  19.        definitions in order to facilitate sharing of scarce  col-
  20.        ormap  resources     among    clients.   Where at all possible,
  21.        colormaps are created with read-only allocations.

  23. OOPPTTIIOONNSS
  24.        The following options may be used with _x_s_t_d_c_m_a_p:
  25.  
  26.        --aallll    This option indicates that all six  standard  col-
  27.            ormap  properties should be defined on each screen
  28.            of the display.     Not  all  screens  will  support
  29.            visuals    under  which  all  six    standard colormap
  30.            properties are meaningful.  _x_s_t_d_c_m_a_p  will  deter-
  31.            mine the best allocations and visuals for the col-
  32.            ormap  properties  of  a     screen.  Any  previously
  33.            existing     standard  colormap  properties     will  be
  34.            replaced.

  36.        --bbeesstt   This option indicates that the RGB_BEST_MAP should
  37.            be defined.

  39.        --bblluuee   This option indicates that the RGB_BLUE_MAP should
  40.            be defined.

  42.        --ddeeffaauulltt
  43.            This option  indicates  that  the  RGB_DEFAULT_MAP
  44.            should be defined.

  46.        --ddeelleettee _m_a_p
  47.            This  option  specifies    that  a specific standard
  48.            colormap property, or all such properties,  should
  49.            be  removed.   _m_a_p  may    be one of: default, best,
  50.            red, green, blue, gray, or all.

  52.        --ddiissppllaayy _d_i_s_p_l_a_y
  53.            This option specifies the host and display to use;
  54.            see _X_(_1_).

  56.        --ggrraayy   This option indicates that the RGB_GRAY_MAP should
  57.            be defined.

  59.        --ggrreeeenn  This  option  indicates    that  the   RGB_GREEN_MAP
  60.            should be defined.
