In order to improve the availablity of the images, two logging computers are now used. One is an Amiga 3000, the other an Amiga 2000. The A3000 is much faster and is sending images to ftp.ece.jcu.edu.au. The A2000 is sending images to ftp.jcu.edu.au. Those areas are on different machines. If one of the logging machines or the Unix machines they send the images to fail, only one of the systems will be effected, thus improving the reliability.
In attition there have been some changes to the naming of the directories, to facilitate IBM-PC users with their 8 character file name limit on most machines:
westaus (West Australia) has been renamed wausl the l denoting the "low resolution" (320x256) image size.
northaus has been renamed nausl (North Australia)
sausl (South Australia) has been added.
To speed up the cutting and pasting on the A2000, not all the images sent by the A3000 are duplicated on the A2000. For instance even though the direcory sausl exists on ftp.jcu.edu.au, the A2000 does not at present do a cutting and pasting of South Australia, but the A3000 does. The directory structure is however duplicated to enable changes in logging machines to be made reliably.
As part of the changes, the web page has been changed and moved. the areas are http://www.ece.jcu.edu.au and the other one (will shortly be) http:www.jcu.edu.au
