  52. Personal History:

  54. Theodore (or "Gunner" as he likes to be called) was born in San Francisco,
  55. smack dab in the heart of Star Fleet Command. He was the only son of Admiral
  56. James Bellasario and thus grew up in a rigid military atmosphere, his whole
  57. childhood being spent prepping him for his eventual entrance into Star Fleet.
  58. Theodore went along with this for awhile, but during those rebellious teen-
  59. years, he and his father quarrelled over just what his priorities ought to be,
  60. so much so, that Theodore left home just days before he was due to enter Star
  61. Fleet. This is not to say that he didn't have the talent to undertake the task.
  62. He was an exceptional marksman and quite adept at technical skills. He just had
  63. a wild streak, a yearning to sew some wild oats, as it were, and was fed up
  64. with being forced to do as he was told.
  65.  
  66. He travelled around for three years as a work-for-transport hitchhiker, saw
  67. some of the galaxy, got into a few scrapes, gambling and drinking and on
  68. occasion swindling or stealing, but generally doing nothing of particular note
  69. or consequence. During this time, he had little contact with his family, and
  70. always having hated the name "Theodore", he picked up the nickname "Gunner",
  71. given to him for his proven abilities at manning a variety of weapons'
  72. stations.

  74. This life of debauchery finally ended, however, the day he got the news that
  75. his dad had been killed in a terrorist attack on Star Fleet Command. His entire
  76. life, such as it was, fell apart completely, and it was that day that he truly
  77. regretted never having tried to reconcile with his father.
  78.  
  79. Gunner returned to Earth to enter the Academy, and with his father's friends
  80. and his previous (though neglected) admittance papers, he was able to cut
  81. through the bureaucracy, file late, re-take the examinations late, and still
  82. get in. Even so, his mother wanted nothing to do with him, and let him know
  83. just how much his father was hurt by what he did.

  85. For the ten years since, he has continued to hope that some day he'll be able
  86. to patch things up with his mother, but he wonders if she will ever truly
  87. forgive him. They still see each other on whatever occasions Gunner manages to
  88. make it back to Earth, but there is always a distance between them. He is
  89. fairly close to his younger sister, Maryssa, who was really too young to
  90. remember much from the turbulent years between Gunner and his father, and she
  91. looks to him as a father figure of sorts, even though it is rare that he gets a
  92. chance of visit.

  95. Service History:

  97. Gunner entered the academy at the ripe old age of 21 years with a new focus and
  98. a vow to make the spirit of his father proud. He excelled in his training and
  99. graduated near the top of his class. Assigned to the USS Berlin on his cadet
  100. cruise, he distinguished himself by "playing the part" of Security Chief under
  101. the tutelage of an old-timer who'd seen all the tricks in the book and then a
  102. few. In mock exercises, he managed to foil his opponents again and again.

  104. Gunner passed with high honors and received a direct promotion to 2nd
  105. Lieutenant. His first assignment was to the destroyer, USS Genghis Khan. After
  106. two and a half years he was transferred to a Bonhomme Richard (Beta-
  107. Constitution) class cruiser, the USS Defiance. His performance as Assistant
  108. Security Chief of three and a half years earned him a promotion to full
  109. Lieutenant and the position of Security Chief on the newly commissioned
  110. Excalibur. Since Gunner had already been trained for department head status
  111. during his cadet cruise, and since he had served for three and a half years as
  112. Asst. Security Chief aboard a capital starship, he was able to side-step
  113. department head school and rush straight into his newest assignment.
