  16. character presented to you today plays an important role. Please note that

  32.      22nd of July, 1620

  34. My wife Sarah bore me a child this day. A young lad who'll nae doubt grow to
  35. look like his old man one day. Clear sailing all around, no signs of
  36. approaching storms. The Drummond, The Sea Queen seems to be holding her
  37. own in the sea. Already a month away from port and she still sails like new.

  39.      6th of September, 1627
  40.  
  41. Angus, my son, has formally asked me to make him a member of The Sea
  42. Queen's permanent crew. He has learned well the skills of a crewman and
  43. has a basic understanding of navigation, direction, weather and rope use.
  44. With a few more years of sailing, he'll be a fine officer.
  45.  
  46. By the present, I name Angus Ragnarok, son of Durhan Ragnarok, crewman of
  47. The Sea Queen.

  51.      25th of January, 1636
  52.  
  53. A sudden storm battered The Sea Queen only a day from port. During the
  54. night, an unknown sea-monster breached the hull of the ship before being
  55. destroyed by the crew's valiant efforts. The ship was quite doomed and
  56. already started going down. Were it not for Crewman Angus, there would
  57. have been much fewer than 50 survivors. As it was, he managed to unite the
  58. men and formed rafts  from loose boards before The Sea Queen sank and thus
  59. saved a great number of my crew. In light of this brave action in which he
  60. risked his own life for  those of his shipmates, I name Angus Ragnarok,
  61. son of Durhan Ragnarok, Commander.

  69.       2nd of March, 1637

  71. After an entire year without a ship, I finally managed to buy another
  72. Drumond! Aye! The Mermaid is sitting proudly on her launch, ready to have
  73. her first taste of the salty seas! We're bound for the Mediterranean sea
  74. where we'll unload our wares in Gibraltar. Then, it'll be on to Athens,
  75. Delos and Cronos. Angus should have a fine time in Greece where the women
  76. are pretty and the ale's decent enough!

  78.      23rd of November, 1637
  79.  
  80. Well I'll be a Valkyrie's uncle! Angus brought a pretty young lass back to
  81. the Mermaid! What's more, she says she wants to be a member of the
  82. permanent crew! I think that if she can get her eyes off my son for a
  83. minute to do the work, she'll make a good sailor. Besides, we're a member
  84. short ever since old Wailand got himself washed away by a storm. By the
  85. present, I name Arianna Larkan, daughter of Erik Larkan, crewman of the
  86. Mermaid

  90.      10th of June, 1638
  91.  
  92. The time has come at last for my son to get married! All the crew gathered
  93. on the deck and I stood at the forefront of the ship with Angus at my left
  94. and Sarah at my right, waiting for Arianna to make her entrance. When she
  95. came out, I heard my son gasp for the first time in his life. And indeed,
  96. she was quite a sight! Dressed in a gown she must have stowed on board
  97. recently and wearing the wreaths the sailors made for her, she was almost
  98. as beautiful as Sarah. When she arrived in front of me, Angus went to her
  99. and formally asked me to marry them. And so I intoned: 'In the age-old
  100. tradition of the sea wherein the Captain may marry young couples, I ask
  101. ye: Are ye here for a serious reason?' At which they replied at the same
  102. time that they were. I went on with it: 'Are there any here who would
  103. oppose the marriage between Angus Ragnarok and Arianna Larkan?' To which
  104. question, the crew was silent. 'In that case, I hereby bind Angus and
  105. Arianna Ragnarok in wedlock. May no man break what the will of Odin has
  106. forged! Ye may light the torches!' The torches were properly lit and a
  107. young steed, brought on board for this occasion was slain, then burned in
  108. honour of the gods and their chosen. After the deed was done, we quickly
  109. doused the fire and repaired the minor damage it had caused to the vessel
  110. while Angus and Arianna retired to my cabin.

  112.      4th of  September, 1644
  113.  
  114. I, Captain Durhan Ragnarok now feel that the manning of a Drummond is beyond
  115. my means for I grow old and my joints no longer function as I would have
  116. them. Henceforth, this duty shall be in the capable hands of my son, Angus
  117. Ragnarok. I stand relieved.

  127.      1st of January, 1647
  128.  
  129. A Grandmother of a storm is pounding fiercely at the Mermaid tonight. What's
  130. more, it looks like my wife's time has come to bring our child into the
  131. world! The storm's winds are raging, lightining flashes everywhere and
  132. thunder explodes every two seconds. Aye! This is a Man's storm indeed! My
  133. son will be born here in nature's harshest land where each breath is a
  134. challenge, where each heartbeat could be a man's last! This is how real
  135. men are born! This is how my son will first see the world! This is how a
  136. new Ragnarok's life begins! Just then, my wife asks me to go boil some
  137. water on the other side of the ship. As I went to do as she asked,
  138. (screamed actually) I wondered why she wanted me to go boil water of all
  139. things, especially since the doctor was doing just that in her cabin... I
  140. did as Arianna asked and when I came back, she was holding a small child
  141. in her arms. It was a boy, a man whose name should be Micheal Ragnarok and
  142. whose life and deeds shall live on forever in the logs of Mankind!

  149.      5th of June, 1650
  150.  
  151. My boat is finally complete and ready to set sail forthwith. The Drummond 
  152. ship, The Bounty is to be launched on it's maiden voyage at 12 noon, on this 
  153. very day. It has been properly christened and the priest, one of my more 
  154. annoying friends, has assured me that this ship will proudly sail the seven 
  155. seas and nae doubt it shall prove to be one of the fastest of its class. We
  156. are to set sail with a full crew complement numbering 120 brave sailors.

  167. My wife Arianna and I were in a grand mood when the crowd (mostly composed
  168. of land-lubbers) cheered us fare-well and good-bye. This, furthermore was
  169. to be young Micheal's first sea voyage. Arianna and I are quite proud of
  170. the lad, he'll grow to be quite a man someday...

  172.      6th of June, 1650
  173.  
  174. All is well, The Bounty seems to be holding up well to the sea's gentle
  175. swells.
  176.  
  177.      15th of June, 1650
  178.  
  179. Pirates attack. Wolfe Larson, Captain of the Drake boarded the Bounty
  180. during the night! The bloody watch must have fallen asleep at his post!
  181. Despite a ferocious battle, at the end of which we repelled Larson's
  182. attack, The Bounty lost many of her crew and passengers. Among these, were:
  183. Arianna, my beloved wife      Sarah, my mother         Durhan, my father   
  184. Micheal, my only son          Jack, the Trade Master   Also killed were 78
  185. crewmen
  186. Now, I shall not rest until I avenge their deaths a hundred thousand times
  187. over.

  189.      27th of June, 1650
  190.  
  191. A Great-Great-Great Grandmother of a storm struck The Bounty. All hands
  192. were lost in the swells and she was no more than a torn husk. I appeared
  193. to be the only survivor of the wreck and all I had were a few clothes, not
  194. quite a hundred gold coins and this log. Luckily, land was in sight.
