  19.        Dylan becomes an established folk artist and by the end of 1962 he
  20.   is already headlining hootenanny shows. His song writing is now most prolific,
  21.   39 songs can be attributed to 1962, and a lot of time is spent recording the
  22.   second album for CBS, THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN.

  25.   1.  CALENDAR
  26.  
  27.   January          John Hammond arranges a deal with music publishing company
  28.            Leeds Music. A number of Dylan's new songs are recorded as
  29.            for them. These are known as the "Leeds Music Demos".
  30.  
  31.   January 13       Dylan appears at the San Remo Coffee House in Schenectady,
  32.            New York.
  33.  
  34.   February         Dylan appears at Cafe Lena, Saratoga Springs, New York.
  35.  
  36.   February         A new magazine "Broadside" is published. Dylan is to be a
  37.            regular contributor. First issue contains the new song
  38.            "Talkin' John Birch".
  39.  
  40.   March 2          Dylan, playing harmonica and singing backup vocals, records
  41.            with Victoria Spivey and Big Joe Williams.
  42.            Heylin attributes this session to October 21, 1961.

  44.   March 19         The first self titled album is released.

  46.   March 19         Dylan writes a poem for Izzy Young, called "Talking Folklore

  96.   September        A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall is first sung by Dylan at the
  97.            Gaslight Cafe.

  99.   Late September   Another home tape is recorded at the Home of Eve and
  100.            Mac MacKenzie. It includes the newly written Hard Rain.

  102.   September 22     First appearance at Carnegie Hall. Dylan is part of an
  103.            all star hootenanny. His set features the live debut (?) 
  104.            of Ballad Of Hollis Brown.

  106.   October          Dylan performs with John Gibbons on Cynthia Gooding's
  107.            radio show for WBAI. One song is known, a number called
  108.            "TB Blues" which is also mentioned by Dylan a week later,
  109.            when he appears on the Billy Faier Show on WBAI-FM-Radio.

  111.   October 5        Dylan headlines a "Travelin' Hootenanny" show in New York
  112.            Town Hall. The show is enthusiastically reviewed by Robert
  113.            Shelton.

  115.   October          Dylan is again taped at the Gaslight Cafe. This tape with
  116.            17 songs is usually called The Second Gaslight Tape.
  117.  
  118.   October 26       Recording for FREEWHEELIN' continues at Columbia Studios
  119.            in New York. For the first time Dylan records with a band.
  120.  
  121.   November         In order to transcribe songs for publication in the Broadside
  122.            magazine, Dylan records 4 songs at the Broadside office.

  124.   November 14      Further FREEWHEELIN' recordings.

  126.   Late 1962        Four more songs are recorded at the Broadside office.

  128.   November         "Long Ago Far Away" demo is recorded for Witmark.

  130.   December 6       In an attempt to finish the new album another recording
