  1. Welcome to the Publications FTP directory at the Artificial
  2. Intelligence Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  3. Please use your complete email address as a password for anonymous

  6. Many of our recent publications are on-line and it is our plan to put
  7. all new publications on-line as they are published. Below is a
  8. description of what is available on this ftp server and other
  9. resources that are available to help you obtain MIT Artificial
  10. Intelligence Laboratory publications.

  12. An index of what's available on-line will be available by 9/30/93 so
  13. that you will not have to download the large bibliography if you are
  14. only interested in finding out what publications are currently
  15. available on-line. Please read the section on the /bibliography
  16. directory to understand how we splt up the file into separate
  17. sections.

  20. /AI-PUBLICATIONS
  21.  
  22. The /ai-publications directory contains files in compressed postscript
  23. format only except for the /general-pubs subdirectory which contains
  24. some ascii files in addition to the postscript versions of the same
  25. files. All Artificial Intelligence Laboratory publications are
  26. assigned a number beginning with either AIM- (for a memo) or AITR-
  27. (for a technical report or thesis). If you know the number of the
  28. publication you would like to download you may cd to the directory
  29. within /ai-publications repesenting the year it was published and
  30. download (`get') the compressed postscript file. Use a standard Unix
  31. uncompress utility to uncompress the file(s).

  33. Within the /ai-publications directory there is a subdirectory
  34. containing documents of general interest called /general-pubs. This
  35. directory includes:

  39. This is the 1992 - 1993  summary of the laboratory including number
  40. of members, supporting grants, prizes, and awards and a paragraph
  41. describing the research projects of each professor. This file is
  42. available in either ascii or postscript format.

  46. An extended outline (29 pages) of the chapters of ``Artificial
  47. Intelligence,'' 3rd edition, by Patrick Winston. This book is not
  48. available through the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory publications
  49. office but can be ordered from Addison Wesley Publishers. General

  55. Excerpts from ``Expanding Frontiers.'' This is an overview of the two
  56. volume set edited by Patrick Winston which examines the current and future
  57. state of artifical intelligence. This two volume set can be ordered

  59. (617)-625-8569 BOOK ORDERS.  File available in postscript only.

  65. The /bibliography directory contains various Artificial Intelligence
  66. Laboratory bibliographies in both compressed ascii and compressed
  67. postscript format. They are split up into archived, current, and
  68. update bibliographies because of their large size. Download these
  69. files for a complete listing of all publications published at the
  70. Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. The bibliographies provide author,
  71. title, abstract, and publication number information.

  77. The Current Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Publications
  78. Bibliography - Spring 1993 (100 pages) lists abstracts from current AI
  79. Lab memos, technical reports, and videos available through the lab as
  80. well as books, journals and proceeding listings available outside of
  81. the lab.  Ordering and shipping procedures are also included. Files
  82. are available in both ascii and postscript format.

  86. The Artifiical Intelligence Laboratory Publications Biblgiography
  87. Update - Spring 1993 (20 pages) is a list of only the most recent
  88. publications.  These publications are also contained within the
  89. Current Publications Bibliography and include abstracts of the memos
  90. and technical reports produced within the past year. This list also
  91. includes journal and proceeding citations available outside of the
  92. lab. Files are available in both ascii and postscript format. Many of
  93. the publications listed in this Bibliography Update are avialable
  94. electronically in the /publications subdirectory.

  98. The Archived Publications Bibliography (62 pages) is a listing of
  99. archived publications spanning from 1959 to approximately 1988. Older
  100. publications that are frequently requested are still available through
  101. the Current Publications Bibliography. Once again, files are available
  102. in ascii and postscript format. Ordering instructions are also
  103. included.

  107. ON-LINE TELNET SEARCH OF THE BIBLIOGRAPHY

  109. If you would like to do and on-line search of the Artificial
  110. Intelligence Laboratory's bibliography you may do so by telnetting to
  111. reading-room.lcs.mit.edu. This will connect you to the MIT LCS/AI
  112. Reading Room Catalog System which contains bibliographic citations
  113. from the Laboratory of Computer Science and the Artificial
  114. Intelligence Laboratory. To connect type:
