  51.         Warp. (Drivers for OS/2 2.1x are separately available on

  96. 3.      Installation
  97.  
  98.         These drivers can only be used under OS/2 Warp.
  99.  
  100.         To guarantee a successful installation, be sure to have the
  101.         original VGA driver installed and active.
  102.  
  103.  
  104. 3.1     Restoration of the original VGA driver
  105.  
  106.         Use the restore option at system boot time (Alt+F1) and reset
  107.         the primary display to VGA (Key V).  Consult your OS/2
  108.         handbook for further information.
  109.  
  110.         You have to reboot the system for the change to take effect.
  111.  
  112.         !!!! ATTENTION !!!!
  113.         If you have previously used the driver version 1.00.0x beta,
  114.         you have to delete the WS3INIT.DLL in the \OS2\DLL directory
  115.         prior to the installation procedure.

  118. 3.2     Installation of version 1.xx ELSA Warp drivers
  119.  
  120.         Insert your ELSA CD into your drive, open the CD-ROM drive
  121.         object on your desktop, change to the OS/2 directory appropriate
  122.         for your graphics card (i.e., \WINNER\2000AVI\OS2) and start
  123.         SETUP.EXE. The contents of this file should appear on the
  124.         "Introduction" page.
  125.

  127. 3.3     Using the setup program
  128.  
  129.         On the "Adapter Info" page you may view information about your
  130.         graphics adapter. Use the "Help" function for detailed
  131.         explanations of the displayed items.
  132.  
  133.         You will have to specify your monitor and the desired graphics
  134.         resolution on the "Resolution" page. Please be sure that the
  135.         information concerning your monitor is correct and complete
  136.         (particularly the scan rates) in order to avoid damaging your
  137.         monitor. You have to check the selected resolution using the
  138.         "Test" button, or the mode will not be accepted.
  139.  
  140.         Use the "Installation" page to select the files to transfer to
  141.         your hard disk and to start the installation process. Use the
  142.         "Help" button in order to get further information. After
  143.         completion of the installation you have to shut down and reboot
  144.         your system. OS/2-Warp will start with the selected resolution.
  145.         If you have specified the resolution manager in the installation
  146.         procedure, you can use it for changing the selected resolution.

  151. 4.      Notes
  152.  
  153. 4.2     WIN-OS/2 Configuration :
  154.  
  155.         To change the standard configuration, use the Windows program
  156.         WINman which is automatically started after first calling
  157.         WINOS2.  An online help is available.
  158.  
  159.         By default, the ELSA Windows Driver WINNER08.DRV is installed
  160.         with a resolution of 640x480x256.
  161.  
  162.         The WINNERxx.Drv (in WINDOWS) are copied to the WINOS/2
  163.         directory during the installation. You don't have to copy and
  164.         expand this driver from the GUI-disk.
  165.  
  166. 4.3     OS/2 Warp Version 3
  167.         The Installation is enhanced to run under this OS2 Version.
  168.  
  169. 4.4     De-Installation:
  170.  
  171.         1. Reset to VGA
  172.  
  173.            see 3.1 for this step.

  175.         2. delete the files

  206. 4.6     This Version is a 8/16 and 32bpp color Driver
  207.         and for all possible Screen Resolutions.

  209.         Tu use the hardware support of the DIVE interface, you must
  210.         have 64MB of address soace available in your system. This is
  211.         determined and configured by the driver.  A failure will occur
  212.         if any of the following conditions holds:
  213.  
  214.            a) PCI BUS computer :
  215.                 - more than 4031MB of address space used already
  216.                   unlikely.
  217.                 - older system BIOS (non PCI-conforming)
  218.                   fix: place the following line into your CONFIG.SYS:
  219.                         SET VIDEO_APERTURE=A00
  220.                   This allocated the 64MB Video aperture at 2,5GB in
  221.                   your address space. Be sure this does not conflict
  222.                   with address space requirements of other cards you
  223.                   use.
  224.            b) VL Bus computer :
  225.                 - more than 64MB of main memory
  226.                   fix: none available
  227.                 - BIOS assigned an invaliued address
  228.                   fix : add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS:
  229.                         SET VIDEO_APERTURE=40
  230.                   This assigns addresses following the first 64MB to
  231.                   your video board.

  361. 6.      Caveats / Known Problems
  362.  
  363. 6.1     WINOS2
  364.  
  365.         With some monitors, you can't use a refresh rate different
  366.         from that of the WPS. In this case you will see a black screen
  367.         (or something else) in the WINOS/2 Session.
  368.  
  369.         WINNER WINOS2 and Seamless Driver:
  370.         Use only the WINNERxx.DRV OS/2-Driver Disk. These files are
  371.         copied by the installation utility.
  372.  
  373.  
  374. 6.2     Lotus 1-2-3 f. OS/2 Vers. 2.0
  375.         Lotus 1-2-3 runs only in 8BPP modes.
  376.  
  377.  
  378. 6.3     Software and Color Cursor
  379.  
  380.         For the following configuration no software cursor is available:
  381.  
  382.         2 MB Video RAM:
  383.             1600 x 1280 x 8 BPP
  384.         Work around:
  385.             Use the resolution 1600 x 1200 x 8 BPP
  386.  
  387.         4 MB Video RAM:
  388.             1600 x 1280 x 16 BPP
  389.         Work around:
  390.             Use the resolution 1600 x 1200 x 16 BPP
  391.  
  392.         8 MB Video RAM:
  393.             1600 x 1280 x 32 BPP
  394.         Work around:
  395.             Use the resolution 1600 x 1200 x 32 BPP
  396.  
  397. 6.4     Hardware video acceleration for the WINNER 1000TRIO/V is only
  398.         possible for one video at a time. Additional videos will be
  399.         replayed using software motion video.
  400.         fix: for optimal performance, finish one video before you
  401.              start the next.
  402.  
  403.         In addition, the selected screen resolution should leave
  404.         enough free video memory for storing a frame of the required
  405.         resolution.  This will usually not be the case with a
  406.         resolution of 800x600 at 32bpp with 2MB of video
  407.         memory. Again, if the driver cannot use the hardware
  408.         acceleration, it will revert to software motion video.
  409.         fix: choose a graphics resolution smaller than the available
  410.              maximum.
  411.  
  412.         When using the WINNER 1000TRIO/V, hardware video shrinking will
  413.         not function properly in all cases.
  414.  
  415.  
  416. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  417.  
  418. 7.      EnDIVE
  419.  
  420.         You can use the "ELSA EnDIVE Filter" tool for setting and
  421.         viewing various parameters of EnDIVE.
  422.  
  423.         For testing purposes or when using programs with faulty EnDIVE
  424.         support you can switch off EnDIVE entirely (this has to be
  425.         done before starting such programs) and control the use of X
  426.         and Y filters.
  427.  
  428.         The "Video Memory" display informs you about your usage of the
  429.         free offscreen memory.
  430.  
  431. 7.1     X and Y filtering
  432.  
  433.         These filters improve image quality for scaled AVI movies.
  434.         The X filter interpolates the pixels in the horizontal
  435.         dimension and the Y filter in the vertical dimension.
  436.  
  437.         Y filtering works only if sufficient offscreen memory is
  438.         available. It is ignored otherwise.
  439.  
  440.         The settings for the filters are done via the "ELSA EnDIVE
  441.         Filter" tool. X filtering is set by default.
  442.  
  443.  
  444. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  445.  
  446. 8.      Adjustments
  447.  
  448.     By the use of the SET command in the CONFIG.SYS you can adjust
  449.     some behaviors of the driver.
  450.  
  451. 8.1    SET VIDEO_APERTURE=xxx
  452.

  455. 8.2    SET ELSA_RESET=[H|L]
  456.  
  457.         Use this to reset the selected resolution to one of these :
  458.  
  459.     H = 1024x768x8@75Hz
  460.     L =  640x480x8@60Hz
  461.  
  462.     This setting is valid as long as it appears in the CONFIG.SYS.
  463.  
  464. 8.3     SET USE_FIXPAK17=[0|1]
  465.  
  466.     Use this setting to avoid defect icons on a system with a
  467.     fixpak 17 and in a true colour mode.
  468.  
  469.     1 = fixpak 17 installed
  470.     0 = no fixpak 17
  471.  
  472. 8.4    SET USE_SMALL_FONTS=[0|1]
  473.  
  474.     To use the small icons in a high resolution mode.
  475.  
  476.     1 = small icons should be used in a high res mode
  477.     0 = default icon size should be used.
