Trouble Shooting Guide ............................... System Configuration
GALLERY-HILITE-FGA-FIRE (Final) Release 0696.4
===========================================================================
Dear user,
your SPEA GRAPHITI graphics-board has been tested with a wide variety of
hardware and software and complies with all valid and applicable standards
of hardware and software.
Given the big variety of PC-mainboards, still increased by a lot of
additional components, both software and hardware, it is impossible to
foresee and test all potential combinations and configurations. Sometimes
adjustments and changes in the configuration might be necessary to provide
a system that operates correctly.
Important:
----------
For this type of ISA based boards no more driver updates will be available.
The version of the following support notes is the final revision.
Please check first that you have the latest drivers installed. Compare
the release of the drivers in our BBS with your currently installed
version. You will find the release date on the original disks of your
drivers and also in the comments to the drivers in our BBS. We recommend to
note the release of downloaded software on the disk!
Updates through the BBS or Compuserve are free of charges from SPEA!
The following text contains hints, tricks and solutions for common
problems and requests.
Many of them came from other users in the field. We'd like to thank them
for their contributions.
Note:
Please keep in mind that the options of the system-BIOS may vary. If any
of the options mentioned here should not be available, try to get an
updated BIOS or maybe adapt the recommended changes to the possibilities
of the installed BIOS in your PC.
Yours sincerely
the Support-Team of SPEA SOFTWARE AG

A1 Check and, if necessary, decrease the bus-speed. Bus speed should not
exceed IBM'S specified <=8.33 Mhz in the system setup.
Try installing the board in another slot or even in another PC.
Change the I/O-address of the graphics-board (default: 280h).
Run the respective hardware test program (...HARD.EXE).
A2 Re-load the firmware by calling FGAPROM or HIPROM.
Verify by displaying a testscreen (e.g. HITEST).
A3 Install version 7.21 of GDCINST.EXE (available in the BBS (*), file
GDC486.EXE) and set the parameter
"Compatible AT-Bus?" = N.
FGA: Set Dip switch Nr.3 to ON.
(*) in search path Software Menu - For customers: collect file
A4 Deactivate any memory managers like QEMM, EMM386 in CONFIG.SYS before
you install the GDC software (place REM at the beginning of the
respective line in the CONFIG.SYS).
A5 This effect may be caused by a bus timing problem.
To get color under VGA, load (in AUTOEXEC.BAT) the file VGACOLOR
or start the following file when you have installed ...
- one monitor: FGASINGL
- two monitors: FGADUAL
