  3.          IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES
  4.         ******************************

  7.         There are two steps that you must follow to install your new
  8.         fonts into Microsoft Windows:  
  9.         
  10.            Step 1:  You must install the actual font files into 
  11.                     your Windows "system" directory by using the 
  12.                     setup program contained on the program disk.
  13.  
  14.            Step 2:  After the files are installed on your hard
  15.                     drive, you must then access the Windows 
  16.                     "Control Panel" to install the fonts into the 
  17.                     Windows operating system.
  18.

  20.         Quick instructions for both of these steps are contained in 
  21.         this document.  If you need more help, please refer to your 
  22.         product manual for additional details.

  24.         IMPORTANT:  Your new fonts are stored on the program disks in
  25.         compressed format to save space.  Do not try to copy the files
  26.         manually.  The setup program will uncompress and install the
  27.         font files into your system directory.

  33.          STEP ONE:  THE SETUP PROGRAM
  34.         ******************************

  37.         As mentioned above the first step is to install the actual 
  38.         font files on to your hard drive in the system directory.
  39.         To do so, insert the main program disk into your 3-1/2 inch
  40.         disk drive on Drive A or Drive B.
  41.  
  42.         From Windows "Program Manager" (the first Window that appears
  43.         on screen whenever you start Microsoft Windows), select the
  44.         "FILE" menu option on the left side of the menu bar which is
  45.         located at the top of the screen.  A list of menu items will 
  46.         appear.  
  47.         
  48.         Now select the "RUN" menu item and a text entry box will 
  49.         pop into view.  Locate your mouse cursor on the text entry
  50.         box and click your left mouse button one time to fix the
  51.         cursor inside the box.
  52.  
  53.         If you did everything right, the cursor will change from an
  54.         "arrow" into a flashing "i-beam".  If not, click on the box
  55.         again until the mouse cursor changes shape.

  57.         Type the following command to start the Fonts! Fonts! Fonts!
  58.         setup program:
  59.  
  60.                     A:\SETUP     ( and then press the ENTER key )
  61.  
  62.         Or, if your program disk is located in Drive B, substitute 
  63.         the letter "B" for "A".  Do not type any of the text which
  64.         follows the word "setup".   Simply press the ENTER key after
  65.         the setup command has been entered.

  67.         At this time, the setup program will begin.  Follow the on
  68.         screen instructions to install the font files on your hard
  69.         drive.  If you need any additional help, refer to the program 
  70.         manual.

  72.                                 VERY IMPORTANT!
  73.  
  74.         Microsoft Windows will expect to find your font files in the
  75.         Windows "system" directory.
  76.         
  77.         If you installed Microsoft Windows in the default directory
  78.         location (i.e. you did not change any of the settings during
  79.         the installation), then C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM will be the default
  80.         directory where Windows will locate your fonts when it needs
  81.         them.  Press the ENTER key or click your mouse on the "OK" 
  82.         button to install the fonts into C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.

  84.         If you installed Microsoft Windows on a different disk drive
  85.         or in a custom directory of your own choosing, then type in
  86.         the full path to the "system" directory in the text entry box. 
  87.         Press the ENTER key or click your mouse on the "OK" button to
  88.         install the fonts.

  90.         The setup program will now install the font files on your hard
  91.         drive.  When the setup program is over, you will be prompted to
  92.         create a new Windows program group for Fonts! Fonts! Fonts!
  93.         Select the "OK" button or press the ENTER key to install this
  94.         document and the special "True Type Viewer" program into the 
  95.         new program group.

  101.          STEP TWO:  USE CONTROL PANEL TO INSTALL THE FONTS
  102.         ***************************************************

  104.         After your fonts are installed on your hard drive, they must be 
  105.         installed into the Windows operating system before they can be
  106.         used.  If this is a confusing notion, then compare your new font 
  107.         files to a tray of freshly baked cookies.  They are just out of 
  108.         the oven but you still have to put them on a serving tray before 
  109.         you can eat them.

  111.         Windows fonts can be added and removed at any time with a special 
  112.         Fonts utility which is found in your Windows Control Panel.  Full 
  113.         instructions on how to use the Control Panel Fonts program are
  114.         contained in your product manual with illustrations.  Please
  115.         refer to your manual at this time.

  117.         If you are already familiar with the Fonts installation utility,
  118.         here is a quick summary of the steps which you must follow:
  119.  
  120.                 1.  Double-click your mouse on the "Main" program
  121.                     group to locate the "Control Panel" icon.
  122.  
  123.                 2.  Double-click on the "Control Panel" icon.
  124.                 
  125.                 3.  Double-click on the "Fonts" icon.
  126.                 
  127.                 4.  When the Fonts window appears, click your mouse
  128.                     on the "ADD" button.
  129.  
  130.                 5.  Click your mouse on the "System" subdirectory
  131.                     which appears in the list box in the lower left
  132.                     corner of the Fonts window.
  133.  
  134.                 6.  Double click your mouse on the name of any font
  135.                     that you want to install.
  136.  
  137.                 7.  After the font is installed, it will appear in a
  138.                     "Sample" box at the bottom of the Window.  If you
  139.                     do not want to use the font, select the "Remove"
  140.                     button.

  142.                 8.  After you install the fonts that you want to use,
  143.                     close all Windows and return to Program Manager.
