  13. :: INSTALLING, UPDATING AND UNINSTALLING

  15. INSTALL
  16.    The fastest way to install mdiNotepad is by using setup.exe. You can
  17.    also install mdiNotepad manually by copying mdipad.exe and all the
  18.    other files to any directory you please, and create the shortcuts
  19.    you need. 
  20.  
  21.    The Setup of mdiNotepad makes no modifications to your Windows registry.
  22.    This way you can install mdiNotepad to any windows environment. The only
  23.    downside to this is that you have to setup the file associations
  24.    yourself.

  26. WINDOWS XP
  27.    Is some cases Windows XP won't let the setup overwrite and replace
  28.    notepad.exe, it being a system file. If this happends you have to replace
  29.    Notepad manually just by overwriting notepad.exe with mdipad.exe and
  30.    making sure all the other necessary files can be found in the same
  31.    windows directory.

  33. UPDATING
  34.    If you already have a previous version of mdiNotepad installed to a 
  35.    directory just select the Install option. If you have replaced Notepad
  36.    with mdiNotepad and wish to update, select the Replace notepad.exe
  37.    option.

  39. UNINSTALL
  40.    If your have replaced the original notepad.exe then run the mdiNotepad
  41.    setup again and select the Restore backup option. If your have installed
  42.    mdiNotepad to a directory select the Uninstall option.

  45. :: KNOWN PROBLEMS AND BUGS
  46.  
  47.    Some Windows XP users may encounter an "Invalid Image size" error,
  48.    which may cause mdiNotepad not to start. This bug will be fixed
  49.    as soon as the cause is found.

  52. :: FURTHER OPTIMIZING
  53.  
  54.    If you want to use mdiNotepad to edit the notepad.ini file you must
  55.    first open the file in one session, make the changes, save and start
  56.    another. Then close the first session.
  57.  
  58.    PrintMargin=<top>,<left>,<bottom>,<right>
  59.    
  60.    This paremeter enables you to modify the margin mdiNotepad uses
  61.    when printing. The values represent pixels. The amount of pixels
  62.    per inch depends on the resolution used by your printer.

  64.    UseSystemIcons=0/1
  65.  
  66.    For some Windows XP and ME users the icons in the Open Files menu
  67.    don't show correctly or at all. In this case set the UseSystemIcons
  68.    value to 0 and the default icon will be used.

  70.    ShowDocumentsIcons=0/1

  72.    By setting the value of this parameter to 0 the Documents menu 
  73.    won't load the icons associated with each file. This will make
  74.    the File menu work faster.

  100.          features added and improved here and there.
