  14. 1) Extract the files in the zip to a folder.
  15. 2) Run setup from that folder.

  22. 1) Run the setup program again.

  24. * Use setup /u for silent uninstallation.

  27. Windows 9x/ME Issues
  28. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  29. Under Windows 9x the protection is only active if the 32-bit
  30. protected mode disk drivers are being used.  If the system
  31. properties Performance tab shows "Your system is configured
  32. for optimal performance" then the protected mode drivers are
  33. being used.

  35. Problem Booting after Installation
  36. ----------------------------------
  37. If for some reason you have a problem booting the operating system
  38. the first time after installing EMBRLock then:
  39.  
  40. 1) Press F8 as soon as the "Starting Windows" text is displayed.
  41.    (you need to be quick)
  42. 2) From the menu choose to boot in to safe mode.
  43. 3) Uninstall EMBRLock by running the setup program again.

  46. Windows NT Issues

  49. Problem Booting after Installation

  51. If for some reason you have a problem booting the operating system
  52. the first time after installing EMBRLock then:

  54. When booting NT press the space bar when the message that reads:
  55. "Press spacebar NOW to invoke Hardware Profile/Last Known Good menu"
  56. is displayed.

  59. Windows 2K/XP Issues

  64. If for some reason you have a problem booting the operating system
  65. the first time after installing EMBRLock then:

  67. If you get the "Please select the operating system to start" screen
  68. press F8 from that screen.  Otherwise, press F8 as soon as the OS
  69. begins to boot.

  71. From the "Advanced Options Menu" select the "Last Known Good Configuration"
  72. item and press enter.

  75. Problem Programs

  78. Here is a list of known programs which may try to write
  79. sectors within the EMBR:

  81. * Mechwarrior 4 Mech Pak (several).
  82. * TurboTax.
  83. * Novell's Zen For Desktops 4 imaging component.

  85. * In general programs using the C_DILLA (SafeDisk/SafeCast) copy protection.
