Utility Diskette for Windows 3.1/Windows 95 Version 3.51

Note:
From the version 3.50, the programs have been grouped
by operating system.
For Windows3.1 and Windows 95 user, following diskettes are needed.

What The Diskettes Do
-----------------------
The Utility Diskettes for Windows 3.1/Windows95 provide the following
utility programs for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95:
- ThinkPad Features program (setup program)
- Fuel-Gauge program
- Docking Control program for Windows3.1

The resolution and color settings are available.

APM (advanced power management) now reports the same remaining time
as the Fuel-Gauge program does.

The child functions of Mwave, such as Sound Blaster or modem,
is now selectable.
- (Fix) DMA button is always properly unselectable in EPP mode.
- (Fix) An incorrect conflict error will not occur when
Sound Blaster is disabled.
- (Fix) Installation program displays a warning message
if a more recent version program has been already installed.

Fuelwin (Fuel-Gauge program for Windows) does not start
automatically after installation.
- (Fix) Docking option now displays CMOS status correctly.

A disk write error does not occur anymore during hibernation
file creation.

The PCI-IDE bus master driver does not cause a data corruption
on any hard disk drive.

ESS audio now works when its IRQ level is set to IRQ 7 and IRQ 10.

The system does not stop even when an external video card is
installed.

Fn+F7 does not works with 16M colors.

Fn+F7 does not corrupt the DOS window screen.

Fn+F7 does not corrupt the screen after exiting Windows 95 to
the MS-DOS prompt.
- (Fix) Installation program now recognizes a character of space
in a responce file properly in CID installation.

Restarting Windows is successful even if both
the Docking Control program and QEMM Version 8 are installed.

The Video CD format cannot be recognized by the computer
when the PCI-IDE bus master driver is installed.
- (Restriction) (For Windows 95 only)
When the Adaptec driver and PCI-IDE bus master driver
are installed, Windows 95 may report the trap D or E
intermittently when the computer is attached to
the docking station (with "hot docking").

- (Fix) Even if an unexpected PCI adapter card is installed,
a system error does not occur.
- (Fix) The resources of the multi function PCI adapter card is
displayed correctly.
- (Fix) (For ESS model only)
An ISA adapter card using a 330-333 I/O address works properly.
- (Fix) When an external video adapter card is installed,
the display advanced setup does not report an error.
- (Fix) An incorrect warning message is not displayed even if
56Hz is selected in 800x600/64K.
Installation Guide
------------------
(For Windows 3.1)
1. Start Windows 3.1.
2. Select File from the Program Manager window; then select
Run... from the pull-down menu.
3. Insert the Utility Diskette for Windows 3.1/Windows 95
into the diskette drive;
then type A:▓INSTALLW and press Enter.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
The default choices are already highlighted at the Installation
Options screen.
(For Windows 95)
Note: If you installed Windows 95 on a computer in which Windows 3.1
and the ThinkPad Features program were already installed,
the ThinkPad Features program migrates to the Start Menu
of Windows 95 automatically.
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Insert the Utility Diskette for Windows 3.1/Windows 95
into the diskette drive.
3. Click on Start; then click on Run..
4. Type A:INSTALLW and click on OK.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
