  1676.   - To all intents and purposes this is a standard Chinese restaurant
  1677.     open until 4am. But it also has a special Buddhist vegetarian menu.
  1678.     The dishes read: sweet and sour pork, chicken with cashew nuts,
  1679.     roast duck... around 20 in all with about half being non-'meaty'
  1680.     eg abalone mushrooms, pot of prosperity. The dishes are designed to
  1681.     mimic the textures of meat using tofu, gluten and taro, I love them
  1682.     but some people still feel a bit squeamish ordering such dishes.
  1683.     Be prepared to queue if you arrive just after pub closing time or
  1684.     just after club kickout.

  1686.   There are now a number of restaurants in Chinatown offering this
  1687.   type of food but, beware, I have been served real sweet and sour
  1688.   spare-ribs instead of the mock dish in one such place.

  1691.   - This is probably the finest Indian restaurant in Manchester,
  1692.     the owners are Hindu Indians, and, although they do pander to the
  1693.     meat-eaters, they have one of the most extensive and inventive
  1694.     vegetarian menus around, but they do include a lot of cream and
  1695.     cheese. Great surroundings, great service, great food.

  1698.   council are promoting it as 'the curry mile'. Just about every place
  1699.   will offer a wide selection of vegetarian food (it's near the
