  6. this is the second release of the TOP package. It has become bigger
  7. than we thought. It was a tough work to compile all the stuff, and we
  8. apologize for the long delay.
  9.  
  10. We have sent more than 100 copies of the first release all over the
  11. world, we are impressed by the number of requests. But be are
  12. disappointed because we got nearly no responses. We hoped that a lot of
  13. (esp. english speaking) people would help us with the documentation.
  14. This didn't happen, so the documentation coming with this package isn't
  15. better than the one of the first release. Sorry for that!
  16.  
  17. This probably will be the last big package from TOP. The reason is that
  18. we don't have all the time needed to develope, compile, copy and
  19. maintain all the stuff. We will distribute only sub-packages, e.g.
  20. UUCP/MAIL/NOTES, SYSTEM-UTILITIES, GAMES, GNU and so on in the future.
  21. We hope that somebody in the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe is found
  22. who wants to handle the distribution for us. Volunteers should
  23. contact us (address and numbers see below)!

  25. We still can't support you on the phone, but now you may send us a fax.

  29. In this release we have included a lot of sources. It may be that you
  30. will have some problems when you try to compile them. The reason for
  31. that is usually a different system installation than ours. But there
  32. should be no principal problems (editing the makefiles is likely to be
  33. necessary).

  35. The documentation for many programs here is included in the source
  36. packages. See README file in USR/SRC how to unpack.
  37.  
  38. For some programs no documentation is available. These programs are small
  39. utilities explaining themselves when invoking them with '-?'.
