Info on obtaining a ticket refund for cancelled Grateful Dead shows
including info on keeping tickets as a souvenir.
If you received your tickets for the cancelled fall tour shows
(Boston, MSG, Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore), to get a
full refund of your money (including the service charge) without
getting the tickets back as souvenirs, send the tickets with a
self-addressed-stamped-envelope and name of original purchaser
(postmarked by October 31) and enclose a note stating that you want
a full refund including the service charge to:
Grateful Dead Ticket Sales Refunds - Fall 1995 Name-of-Concert
PO Box 9812
San Rafael CA 94912
If you want to keep your tickets from a cancelled fall tour show
(Boston, MSG, Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore) as a
souvenir, you need to do the following. Send the tickets with a
self-addressed-stamped-envelope and name of original purchaser
(postmarked by October 31) to:
Grateful Dead Ticket Sales Refunds - Fall 1995 Name-of-Concert
PO Box 9812
San Rafael CA 94912
(You may want to include a note stating that you want the tickets back
as a souvenir.). The tickets will be returned with a stamping on
back with a likeness of Jerry Garcia; they will not be stamped void.
Note, the $2.50 service charge will not be refunded if you get the
tickets back as souvenirs; only the face value of the tickets will be
refunded.
If you do not send back tickets, GDTS (Grateful Dead Ticket Sales)
cannot keep the money. It will be turned over to the state of
California (eventually). To donate the money to GDTS or to the Rex
Foundation, send a photocopy of the fronts of all tickets and a signed
letter asking for the donation to be made (to either GDTS or the Rex
Foundation).
GDTS appologizes for having to send many mail orders back unopened marked
"return to sender. "
There is a special printing of Hunter's elegy for Jerry that will be
sent out with all refunds. If you want a copy and are not asking for
a refund, you can send a No 10 self-addressed-stamped-envelope to
GDTS - Hunter Elegy
Po Box 2081
San Rafael CA 94912
There are only a very limited number of the special printing of
Hunter's elegy; any requests for it after September 26th will not be
filled. GDTS plans to hold enough copies so that all refund requests
will get one.
Note, tickets were actually printed up for Boston, MSG, The Spectrum
and Devore. Tickets were never printed for Shoreline or Toronto. The
possibility exists that GDTS may try to find a way to distribute the
Spectrum tickets, GDTS ticket czar Steve Marcus reports "But it
may not happen for a while." There have been no announcements about
getting souvenir tickets if you don't already possess tickets to a
cancelled show (as of Wednesday October 4, 1995).
Also consider returning your tickets via registered or insured mail.
Steven Marcus suggests "it helps us greatly if you put the name of
the show on the front of the envelope to us." Refund requests for
multiple cities may be sent in, in one envelope.
P.S. Steven Marcus further explains "Okay, let me explain this "money
to the state" thing. Any unrefunded face value money reverts to the
state after a very long period,(at least 3 years).
So anyone can get a refund for mail order tickets from us up until we
turn the money over to the state. What does this mean?
It means that if you still have Orlando tickets from the canceled show
you can still send them back and get a face value refund. It means
that if you still have Deer Creek tickets from this years canceled
concert you can get a face value refund.
AND!!!!!!!
If you still have mail order tickets for any of the canceled concerts
in 1992 you can still send them in and get a face value refund!!!!!
If you want to keep your tickets to these canceled concerts than
***PLEASE*** send us a xerox of the fronts of each ticket along with a
letter stating that you want the money to go to GDTS or The Rex
Foundation or else your money ***WILL*** go to the State of California!
Concerning the 10/6 cut off, that was moved up to 10/31. And all that
means is that if your refund request is postmarked by 10/31 you can
still get a full refund including the service charge if you include
the name of the original purchaser. Or you can get your tickets back
and a face value refund if you include the name of the original
purchaser and your request is postmarked by 10/31.
Again, we are working on the refunds and hope to be completely done
with what we have in house now by mid November.
