  1. VxD Messages and What to do about them
  2.  
  3. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR 1014:  Disk Cache or other File I/O Software
  4. Using EMS Memory.
  5.  
  6. Qualitas MAX has detected EMS memory in use by a disk cache or other
  7. resident file I/O software.  The other software may be a disk
  8. compression utility or a network.  It is recommended that these
  9. programs use extended or XMS memory when operating in a Windows
  10. environment.  Check EMS memory usage by typeing 386util/e in the
  11. Qualitas MAX directory to determine which programs are using EMS
  12. memory.  If you MUST run Windows with this type of software, you may
  13. override the error message by editing your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and
  14. adding the DOS command SET EMSCACHE=OK.

  17. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR:  Unable to provide DOSMAX features.
  18.  
  19. DOSMAX has detected that your system has less than 640 KB of
  20. conventional memory.  Because the top of conventional memory does not
  21. correspond to the bottom of graphics memory (as it does on a system
  22. with 640 KB) DOSMAX features are unavailable.  Most resident programs
  23. load into the lowest address memory available.    If the software loads
  24. into the top of low DOS memory, DOSMAX for Windows won't work.  The
  25. most common software that loads in this manner is software that is
  26. necessary for certain hard disk controllers.  See DOSMAX for Windows
  27. in the on-line Help for additional information on DOSMAX.

  30. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR:  Qpopup is not running.
  31.  
  32. The Qualitas MAX device will not be able to protect this DOSMAX window
  33. from programs attempting to enter graphics mode.  QPOPUP.EXE is not
  34. loading from the WIN.INI file or the Startup group.  Without this
  35. file, Qualitas MAX can't protect DOSMAX windows from programs that
  36. attempt to enter graphics mode.  Check the LOAD= line in the WIN.INI
  37. file for the file.    Reinstall DOSMAX by using the DOSMAX entry on the
  38. Startup tab of the Toolbox.

  42. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR 1021:  Qualitas MAX Stacks Required for DOSMAX
  43. Support.  Remove STACKS=0 from the 386MAX.PRO file.  Qualitas MAX
  44. stacks must be enabled in order to use the DOSMAX feature.    Click Load
  45. DOS Stacks high on the Startup tab of Toolbox or remove the STACKS=0
  46. option from the 386MAX.PRO file and reboot your system.

  49. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR 1011:  Busmaster disk subsystem detected that
  50. requires Qcache or other compliant disk cache to be loaded.  Qualitas
  51. MAX detected a busmastering hard disk controller that does not support
  52. VDS.  Alternatively, your 386MAX.PRO file contains the NOSCSI option.
  53. In either case, 386MAX.VXD expects to find a VDS-compliant disk cache
  54. program in memory.    See the Qualitas MAX README file for additional
  55. information on busmastering controllers.

  58. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR 2035:  V86 RAM Page(s) in use.  Modify RAM=
  59. statement(s) in 386MAX.PRO file to remove the following region(s):

  64. Windows 95 is attempting to use RAM pages that are already in use by
  65. Qualitas MAX. Remove the overlapping portion of the RAM= statement
  66. identified in the message from the RAM= statement in the 386MAX.PRO
  67. file and reboot the system.

  69. Qualitas MAX VxD ERROR 1020:  386MAX.SYS version mismatch.    The
  70. versions of 386MAX.SYS and 386MAX.VXD that are in use do not match.
  71. Check that the current version of each file is in the Qualitas MAX
  72. subdirectory.
