  1. SUPERSTOR and 386MAX
  2.  
  3. This information pertains to Version 2.0 and later of SuperStor and
  4. 386MAX version 7.xx.  All instructions apply to both 386MAX and
  5. BlueMAX. 386MAX is used as an example in all cases.
  6.  
  7. Follow these directions only if you wish to have the SuperStor driver
  8. considered as a candidate for loading into high DOS memory.
  9. Otherwise, no special directions are necessary.  When installing
  10. SuperStor, it is important that you leave enough space on your
  11. uncompressed drive for necessary files.  About 700 KB is necessary to
  12. copy the appropriate 386MAX files to the uncompressed drive and
  13. approximately 2.5 MB is necessary on the compressed drive.    Be certain
  14. that you have enough space on both the compressed and uncompressed
  15. drives before you install 386MAX.  Consider leaving enough space for
  16. other programs that may need to reside on the uncompressed drive, as
  17. well as space for a Windows SWAP file if you plan to use one.  It is
  18. usually a good idea to leave at least 1024 KB available for use on
  19. your uncompressed drive.  If you do not have enough space on either of
  20. the drives, or if your uncompressed drive is a hidden drive, contact
  21. SuperStor for information on how to make the necessary changes before
  22. you attempt to install 386MAX.
  23.  
  24. INSTALL 386MAX: 
  25.  
  26. Place your 386MAX diskette into a floppy drive.
  27.  
  28. Type A:INSTALL where A:  represents the drive letter of your floppy
  29. drive press < ENTER >
  30.  
  31. Follow the on-screen prompts through INSTALL.  When INSTALL asks if
  32. you would like to run MAXIMIZE, reply NO.  Do not run MAXIMIZE at this
  33. time.  You will be returned to the DOS prompt.
  34.  
  35. Bring your CONFIG.SYS up in a text editor (for DOS 5 or DOS 6, type
  36. edit c:\config.sys).  Be sure the first 3 lines, in order, read as
  37. follows (your drive and path may differ from those given):

  39. DEVICE =C:\386MAX\386MAX.SYS PRO=C:\386MAX\386MAX.PRO
  40. DEVICE=C:\SSTORDRV.SYS /NOUMB
  41. DEVICE=C:\DEVSWAP.COM
  42.  
  43. You may need to add the /NOUMB option to the SSTORDRV.SYS device line.
  44. Reboot at this time to verify that your system functions as expected
  45. and that you are able to access all your drives.
  46.  
  47. RUN MAXIMIZE: 
  48.  
  49. Return to the 386MAX directory and type MAXIMIZE.  Follow the
  50. on-screen prompts until MAXIMIZE completes.
  51.  
  52. If you encounter any problems installing 386MAX, type Preinst at the
  53. command line in the 386MAX directory to return your CONFIG.SYS and
  54. AUTOEXEC.BAT to the configuration prior to the installation of this
  55. version of 386MAX.    If you have problems during MAXIMIZE, Premaxim
  56. returns your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to the configuration prior to
  57. the last pass of Maximize.
