  1. Qualitas Memory Tester
  2.  
  3. The Qualitas Memory Tester (QMT), uses advanced memory checking to
  4. find problems in your PC's memory system.  QMT detects classes of
  5. memory errors not detectable by the basic POST test provided at
  6. boot-time.    In many cases, memory fails without warning.  Symptoms of
  7. memory problems may include erratic lock-ups, loss of data, or disk
  8. corruption.  Regular extensive testing of your PC's memory system
  9. gives you an opportunity to try to track any problems before you
  10. experience the symptoms.  QMT warns about error conditions that can
  11. lead to these problems so that you may take appropriate steps to try
  12. to correct them.

  14. System memory is fragile and may be affected by numerous circumstances
  15. and conditions.  Some of the causes of memory problems include
  16. humidity, vibration, static, radiation, temperature fluctuations, and
  17. pressure changes.  Aging and deteriorating components can also cause
  18. memory failures.  Another condition that affects how memory functions
  19. is design flaws in the components.    These flaws can cause critical
  20. timing errors in memory.

  22. QMT installs and runs automatically in the Quick mode each time you
  23. boot your system if you reply "yes" to the question asked during
  24. Install.  There are advantages to checking the available portion of
  25. the system memory on a daily basis.  However, you gain the maximum
  26. benefit from QMT by testing as much of your system memory as possible
  27. regularly and by using the Full memory test.  For this reason, it is
  28. most beneficial to test your system memory without resident programs
  29. and device drivers that may use extended or expanded memory.  Memory
  30. management software, disk caches, RAM drives, and even Windows are all
  31. included in this group of programs.  Periodically, weekly or even
  32. daily, you may want to boot from a boot floppy or a basic Config.sys
  33. and Autoexec.bat to ensure as little RAM as possible is in use before
  34. using QMT to test the system memory.  (IF WINDOWS) All of QMT's
  35. advanced RAM checking tests are available while you are in Windows.
  36. Because Windows uses a large portion of the available system RAM, it
  37. is more advantageous to test system memory outside the Windows
  38. environment.

  44. The recommended course of action is to discuss the results of the test
  45. with your authorized dealer.  It is important to note that the address
  46. given does not necessarily correspond to the physical address of the
  47. faulty memory chip.  The physical layout of memory differs from system
  48. to system, making it impractical to try to point to a particular chip
  49. within the system.
