This programs uses astronomical calculation techniques developed in the
recent centuries and is more accurate than those used by some of our
traditional panchangam experts. This may cause some differences from
values found in vakkya panchangams.
The sky is divided into 27 constellations or nakshatrams.
A rasi (signs of zodiac) is 2 and a quarter nakshatrams. The moon stays in
a nakshatram for about a day. The sun however stays in a rasi for about a
month. The nakshatram or the birth star is according to the position of
MOON at the time of birth. The birth day according to Hindu Calender is
when the SUN is in the same rasi and the MOON in the nakshatram of birth.
The Solar date is according to the Tamil/Malayalam/Sinhala calendar.
The Lunar date is according to the Kannada/Telugu calendar.
