  30.                         Introduction to MorphBar
  31.  
  32.    MorphBar is an Icon Bar (or Launch Bar) for Windows. It provides a single 
  33.    mouseclick interface to your commonly used applications and/or files.
  34.  
  35.    Setting applications up is a simple matter of filling out a dialog box and
  36.    selecting an icon for display on the button.
  37.  
  38.    MorphBar also provides you with a command line which can be used for running
  39.    applications without setting them up as permanent icons on the bar, and a 
  40.    simple text editor you may find useful for displaying and editing ASCII 
  41.    files.

  43.    It is compact, quick and easy to manage.

  57.                            Installation Instructions
  58.  
  59.       To install MorphBar on your system, first create a new directory for
  60.       MorphBar version 1.0.  The directory can be on any hard disk drive, 
  61.       and you can use any valid directory name.
  62.  
  63.       Copy all the MorphBar files into this directory. (Note that the TXT files
  64.       are not required to run the program).
  65.       
  66.       From the Windows 3.1 Program Manager, open the File menu and select 
  67.       Run... Locate MORPHBAR.EXE and run the program. After closing the opening
  68.       screen you may wish to change the location of any icon files MorphBar
  69.       creates (otherwise they will be located in the Windows root directory).
  70.       To do this, click the Control button and change the pathname in the Icon
  71.       Directory field.

  73.       Close MorphBar down by clicking the Control button on the top left corner
  74.       and selecting close. This will create the default .INI file in the 
  75.       Windows root directory. You can now restart MorphBar and add program
  76.       icons to the bar by clicking the right mouse button on any empty launch
  77.       button. Programs are run by clicking the left mouse button on the
  78.       required launch button. See the on-line help for more details.

  82.                             MorphBar and Windows 95

  84.       From the Windows 95 TaskBar click the Start button and select Run... 
  85.       Locate MORPHBAR.EXE and run the program. After closing the opening
  86.       screen you may wish to change the location of any icon files MorphBar
  87.       creates (otherwise they will be located in the Windows root directory).
  88.       To do this, click the Control button and change the pathname in the Icon
  89.       Directory field.

  98.                               Additional Notes

  100.       You can attach documents to MorphBar launch buttons as well as executable
  101.       files. When these buttons are clicked, providing the document type is
  102.       correctly registered to Windows, the designated application will run
  103.       with the document loaded. The same applies to the command line feature.

  105.       Once you start using MorphBar you are likely to want to place it in the
  106.       StartUp group in Windows. This is the main reason why MorphBar does not
  107.       have a group of it's own.
  108.  
  109.       MorphBar is a narrow application. In testing we found that Windows 
  110.       could distort the width of the bar if it needed more space to display a
  111.       minimize icon (using large fonts in Windows 3.x or under any mode in 
  112.       Windows 95). Consequently we removed the minimise icon. We would be
  113.       interested in any feedback from this decision.

  117.       We enthusiastically support MorphBar. Please do not be put off 
  118.       contacting us by the fact you'll be writing to a private address. Either
  119.       write to us at the address above or E-Mail us at the address on the 
  120.       Control Dialog. No SAE is required.

  122.                            Shareware Copies of MorphBar
  123.  
  124.       If you obtained MorphBar from a shareware disk vendor, an on-line
  125.       computer service or bulletin board, a friend or colleague, or another
  126.       similar source, you have an unregistered (trial) copy.  As the
  127.       copyright holder for this software, Roger Cope allows and encourages
  128.       you to use this trial copy without charge for a limited period of
  129.       time, under the terms of our license agreement (see LICENSE.TXT). 
  130.       After this time is up, you must purchase (register and pay for) a 
  131.       registration code to continue using it (see the 'Registration' topic in
  132.       the on-line help for details).

  134.       This method of distribution is known as shareware.  It allows you to
  135.       determine whether the product meets your needs before you pay for it.
  136.  
  137.       Payment of the shareware registration fee for MorphBar gets you a 
  138.       registration code which makes the opening screen go away and makes the
  139.       Control Dialog look prettier. You can also order a disk based copy of
  140.       the current version (you'll be notified if your current version is not
  141.       current) at extra cost. Registration also gets you continued support 
  142.       via electronic mail or snail mail and low cost upgrades to future 
  143.       versions.
