Vesa Catalogue
Version 1.0
Vesacat.exe is a VESA display mode visual catalogue system. It displays
product information from a text file and an optional preview screen dump from
a binary file.
Requirements:
Vesacat.exe requires:
An 80286 or better PC (AT, 286, 386, 486 or Pentium etc)
VESA compatible display card
SVGA monitor
Hard Disk
Command Line:
VESACAT
Vesacat.exe will search for a file named "vesacat.cfg" which is a text file
containing what you want displayed at the top right of the screen. Catalogue
entries are textfiles suffixed .DAT, such as product1.dat product2.dat etc.
Each product may optionaly have a colour preview screen. The preview screens
are identified as having the same name as the DAT files, but are suffixed
.SCR. Each preview file is a 4000 byte 80 x 25 binary screen dump.
When the highlight bar is over an entry, the text about that item (read from
item.dat) is displayed at the bottom of the screen, and any preview screen
(item.scr) is displayed at the right of the screen. Hence the need for a VESA
display card!
Please see the enclosed sample catalogue files (*.dat and *.scr) for examples
of catalogue entries.
Capture.exe, a utility program to capture screen dumps in a suitable form for
.SCR files is included. Capture.exe is a TSR program which remains resident
until you enter the command.
CAPTURE QUIT
When capture.exe is loaded, press ALT and . (period) to capture the displayed
TEXT mode screen to a file called CAPTURE.BIN in the current directory. This
file should then be renamed and moved to your catalogue directory.
